"On January 13th, 2024, my party of four (two couples) visited ICE restaurant at 12:30 pm. We were excited to try out this establishment after finding it online. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The nachos for starters had a poor cheese sauce, soggy chips, and were only saved by the pulled pork. Our main courses - which included sirloin, an open steak sandwich, and two chicken burgers - were also subpar. The steak on the sandwich was undercooked, the sirloin was cold and poorly prepared, and one of the chicken burgers was served cold while the other had raw chicken meat. When we addressed these issues with the waitress, she argued about the color of the chicken meat in the burgers and reluctantly replaced them with similarly cold dishes. To top it off, the Eaton mess sundae was lacking in quality, with just one small meringue and frozen raspberries. We had high hopes for ICE but the food and service fell short, ultimately leaving us disappointed. Despite the nice atmosphere, we will not be returning. "Really nice little location and the coffee house is a lovely little cafe with purchasable artwork on the walls. Home made sausage rolls and scotch eggs and cakes which look absolutely appealing! Other hot dishes available such as bacon sandwiches and breakfasts etc. Today, I purchased the bacon butty, tea, scotch egg, americano coffee and eggs and bacon. £16 My girlfriend called the black americano as average but the eggs were nice. I had the bacon sandwich and the scotch egg. The scotch egg was lovely and warm. The bacon sandwich and the bacon on my girlfriends plate was terrible. Barely under the grill which is just a preference of choice but we could not eat it at all. Very fatty too. Whilst this is just an observation and a personal choice as well as the fact I’m in service myself, when handing back the plates, the waitress asked if everything was ok. She didn’t take note of the bacon sandwich being given back pretty much untouched or offered an alternative or even re-done! Again, just my own personal observation and how I’d do things differently but certain makes you think did I get value for money. The obvious answer is no. Whilst the staff seem nice, the food could be better. All I’d say to the staff who work here is maybe take a little time to listen to feedback and see if the customer is happy. Either a refund on an item or an alternative dish. Anyway, it’s £16; I get it’s not a lot but I’ve left the cafe still hungry. Thank you The Coffee House for your time."

"A party of four adults arrived at the Grange Thurston today, for an afternoon tea and a possible evening meal the following evening. Arriving at the front door, wearing masks, to be met by an officious man, presumably the manager. We were told we would need to wear masks in the bar and restaurant. I stated that it would be difficult to eat and drink while wearing a mask. The response was that it was government regulations. We were then told we need to register using the NHS app. This involved scanning an app into a smart phone. I asked what if a person didn't have a smart phone and the response was it was government regulations. I tried to question the policy but the person continued to talk over me. My understanding is that an alternative, such a pen and paper, should be provided. At this point a woman and child walked past us out of the hotel, without masks. This person had no concept of customer service. In addition the regulations do not come in force today and he has no idea of the regulations. We therefore left and the hotel lost the custom of the price of afternoon tea and the potential of an evening meal of four people. In these difficult times hotels and restaurants need to be aware of regulations and do everything to encourage not discourage customers. I would recommend you avoid this establishment until suitable competent management is in place."

"We love the food at this pub so we came back again to have the pork belly, which when we had before was absolutely perfect, infact one of the best. Meat cooked to perfection and crispy fat/crackling. Unfortunately this time my partner was very disappointed...with his as the fat on the pork was very soft almost like it had been heated up in the microwave.I understand some pork dishes are fatty but this just wasn’t quite right. And because it was so good before we didn’t expect it to be so like this, working in hospitality myself I think it’s always good to give feedback good or bad, I did mention it but also being positive and saying my pie was just what I was craving, the manager did apologise and explain different chefs, different food quality, personally I think a little kind gesture like a coffee on the house is always a winner to get customers back if unhappy as food was poor quality, but the bill came at full price. No drink on the house or kind gesture . Feel like it was just shrugged off because I didn’t make a big enough fuss. The time before I was with a friend and fair enough it was a busy Monday lunch but we had to ask for the bill 3 times and a glass of water also 3 times. Service is hot and miss."

"The hotel is a charming old manor house that has been converted into a three-star hotel. It boasts an impressive entrance, a good location, and plenty of potential. We booked four rooms for two nights in the main house. In its prime, this place must have been fantastic, full of character and old-world charm. However, it currently feels a bit worn out and is in need of some repairs and tender loving care, both inside and out. The showers were hit or miss; they took a long time to warm up, and at times, the water pressure was disappointingly low. The lighting in the bedrooms could be improved, and some guests found the beds uncomfortable. Additionally, housekeeping could definitely pay more attention to detail. Despite these drawbacks, the hotel has a lot of potential and would benefit from a refurbishment that restores its original features. We've heard that it has recently been under new management, with plans to increase the number of rooms and build leisure facilities. So, there's definitely promise for the future. Even with these issues, we would consider staying here again. It's a lovely old property, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was both appealing and delicious.
