"Such a lovely place to stop for lunch, we popped in passing through and I am so glad we did. The staff were so lovely and accommodating, we weren't that hungry so split a soup and sandwich and they plated it up separately for us. the food was amazing proper home cooking with great quality ingredients, a simple tomato and basil soup and cheese and ham sandwich was delightful. "I have been going to this pub for many years and my favourite day to go is a Sunday, if you time it right with your food you can always stick around for the meat raffle at 6.30. It is a busy pub with excellent food and service, the meat raffle increases the good atmosphere that is already there and if you are luckily enough to win everyone celebrates with you. You do not have to go for food, they have a great selection of drinks on the bar, with friendly staff to serve. If Sunday’s not your thing then men’s darts and dominoes on a Monday, quiz night on a Tuesday, which is always a laugh, ladies darts and dominoes on a Wednesday, Thursday is pool night and then the weekend you are guaranteed a good night. Keep an eye out for any entertainment they have on, you wouldn’t want to miss it. There is also a function room upstairs which has its own bar."

"I researched this café, looking for a meal break in my long journey home from Sheffield. I made a special detour to Glossop to go there. I checked the opening hours on their website the night before, which said they were open until 5pm. It was very disappointing therefore to find all the chairs on the tables and someone cleaning up at just before 3.45. The man explained that they had been very quiet. When I asked about the hours on the website the man said that they didn't know the password to make changes!! Luckily I spotted a Food Hall (not just any food hall... down a path on the opposite side of the road and went there. I try and support the independents but I felt badly let down by this one. I would have been writing a quite different review if the man in the café had had either compassion or a business brain. Both were absent. When I had just travelled an hour to get there and find the café closing, the offer of a hot drink and piece of toast would have been very welcome. As it was I had a very tasty halloumi and falafel wrap in the Food Hall."

"very disappointed from the arrival had booked table but still 15 minutes had to wait no table reservation? several occasions brought them false drinks on our table and told them that we did not order and they were another table. I had tapas with 6-7 dressed on the picture, but only 4 and all very mild. had mentioned to manager, but excuse was short personal (very overwhelmed was not impressed no discount neither after the complaining, but give us a free dose limonade?"

"Just recently had new landlord/landlady. Used to be a great little pub, unfortunately not much of a welcome when ordering at the bar, considering they are new, the place has had a white wash makeover with ice white led lights, cold atmosphere, very clinical. And a massive price increase, almost £4 more for two of our usual drinks. Unfortunately not my local any more. *update.... It was a Saturday afternoon, not many people in, yes one decent original staff member, very hard working girl. Was charged nearly £14 for a beer, gin and tonic, maybe she has charged me for a double? Definitely wasn't. The same drinks ordered in the Bulls head was £11 and only £10 in the commercial down the road. As for your new gate to contain children and dogs, good luck with that!"
