"While on holiday in Westbury with my dad, we decided to enjoy a Chinese meal and chose this restaurant based on its high ratings on TripAdvisor and Google. It's easy to see why it receives such praise. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding, certainly among the best Chinese restaurants we’ve visited. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good Chinese meal. I also suggest making a reservation, as it can get quite busy. When we visited, there were only a couple of tables occupied, but it started to fill up by the time we left. "On Sunday, October 29th, 2017, my wife, two friends, and I went to The Red Lion at Longden Common in Shrewsbury. I had made a reservation for four people at 1:00 PM the previous week. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Rachel, the landlady, who made us feel very welcome. We were seated at our table in the conservatory, which was almost full (a good sign of good food). Our drinks were quickly served, and a friendly server took our meal orders. I started with white bait as a starter, followed by lamb shank. My wife and friends had potato leek soup followed by roast beef. The white bait was served on a bed of salad and was delicious. The lamb shank was excellent, and I heard the roast beef was also very good. The vegetables were plentiful, and we were offered more gravy and vegetables during our meal. Despite being big eaters, my friend and I couldn't finish all the vegetables, but they were all cooked perfectly and tasty. After a short break, we had trifle for dessert, which was a special creation by Rachel and was amazing. I cannot describe it - you must try it yourself! The meal was so good that I asked to speak to the chef, something I've never done before. Two lovely ladies came out from the kitchen and introduced themselves. I thanked them for the delicious Sunday dinner, which truly was a gourmet experience. We can't wait to visit again soon. Well done to Rachel and her staff!"

"The restaurant features a beautiful ambiance, and the food was outstanding. The salmon starter was delicious and incredibly fresh. "Went with friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we arrived and ordered some drinks and advised a young lady that we were booked in for 7.30and a table of four , she couldn’t find a booking and spoke with another lady behind the bar and she said that we could be fitted in. No apologies Our friends arrived and I went to the bar and ordered there there drinks , one of them was a pint of beer that was warm , not wanting to complain I returned to the bar and asked a young man for some ice he obliged. No offer to change but my friend was happy to use the ice . We ordered our food and this took some time to arrive and I actually noticed people who arrived after us getting there food first , but perhaps because they were a table of two . Food arrived and we were asked if we needed anything else and two of us asked for ketchup. I’ve got to say at this point the food was delicious and I’ve not any issues whatsoever with the food. So we were only giving x2 napkins and then a gentleman who we later found out to be the manager asked how was the food “all good thanks “ and we asked him for some more napkins he brought them over and one of the party asked for ketchup as it had still not arrived, his response was “ why didn’t you say that before as it would have save another journey “ not really the response we were expecting considering we had requested it previously., Then when we received the ketchup I’d eaten half of my meal thankfully I didn’t want any as we we received a tiny amount probably a teaspoon certainly not enough for two people. My friend went to get some more drinks and was ignored by the bar staff and when he was finally attended to the young lady was more interested in talking to her colleague while pouring the drinks. I felt quite embarrassed as I’d suggested going to the Nags head and our friends were disappointed with the service so we decided that we would speak to the manager and give them the opportunity to discuss our disappointments , we told him of our concerns and he apologised for his comments regarding the other journey to our table however one of the young ladies behind the bar decided to step in and her comment is the main reason for my complaint is “if your not happy don’t come back “ I have worked in retail and hospitality for over 40 years and I saddened by this situation and disappointed that I feel the need to complain about a local restaurant ."
