"I love the white horse, I think the staff are friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is lovely, it is a great local pub. But, as someone else stated, Christmas Day was really poorly managed, and as a result we were left waiting on starters until 2:10, our booking was 12:45… we were not asked if we wanted anything in the meantime, and only got one round of drinks (no coffee/tea with dessert). I really want them to get that sorted, I had worried about Christmas Day, and going out instead of being at home and afraid I was right to worry. Please focus on managing tables as a priority, and managing the flow, you could really make it great, but until then I can’t recommend going there for an occasion."

Lovely roast chicken dinner, nice cold pint all within the glorious sunshine due to a perfect garden for the sun to shine on down all day.

Came here with family and friends on Saturday for food and refreshments. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. Scarlet and Charlotte went above and beyond to ensure our experience was good. Thank you especially Charlotte!

The pub and garden have a nice appearance. However, the prawn and crab linguine priced at £18.50 was lukewarm and dried out. It seemed like we were the only customers being served at 1pm on a Saturday, which should have been a red flag indicating that the meal wouldn't be great.

The experience was absolutely terrible. We had a 1pm reservation for our family Christmas Day celebration, but our starters didn't arrive until 2.30 after we had to ask three times. It was clear that they were unable to handle their bookings, and the meal was definitely not worth the cost. Visualizza piatti

Attended the ‘launch’ of the new menu Waited at the bar 10 minutes to be served First menu choice not available Run out if Apple sauce for the pork starter I was told they realised they had run out of my main course selection as they were prepping it Wife’s food barely passable I didn’t eat !!! Very very disappointing

We’ve been here many times before and it has been great but wonder if it has changed hands. We had a roast which was ok but not great. The potatoes had that processed taste. The chicken roast was 2 little chicken thighs. The cauliflower cheese was almost non existent and was ordered as an extra. We were told that it came into the pub already prepared. it was so disappointing because it is such a lovely pub and we had always gone there for our Sunday roasts. Sadly we won’t be going back despite the fact the staff were lovely. The food just spoke of cutting corners and making profit.

Not at all happy. Such a pretty pub and great atmosphere. But the food was awful. Ordered Fish Chips.I was presented with the most cheap, tasteless oven chips (worse in quality than the supermarket own brand around the corner (tesco), overcooked) and a spoon of plain peas. The fish was literally annihilated and over cooked and 80% batter/ grease. I was so disappointed. My father had the steak pie which was almost as bad. We just looked at each other and sighed. Probably the worst food I have ever encountered in any pub restaurant and needless to say will not be going back. Def go for drinks but not for food. Visualizza piatti

Not sure what happened if I'm honest. The pub was not really busy (we were the only ones in there at one point) and still service was extremely slow. The food order was incorrect and the cream in the dessert was off. It's such a delightful old pub, but it was probably one of the worst meals we've had out in years. Not sure if they were having an off day with staff shortages or whether this is a normal level of service. Someone did warn me not to have dinner, there but I ignored them and went anyway. Perhaps consider it a drinking pub and forget about the food. It's nice enough for a drink in such lovely surroundings.

We went to the pub to celebrate my Father’s birthday. We should have realized that something was off when there were only two tables eating on a Saturday lunchtime, the first weekend after pay day! The service was very slow. Although our table was booked for 12:00, our main courses were not served until 13:36, causing our one-year-old to become restless. We had starters during this time but the mains still took too long. The staff never offered an explanation for the slow service, only apologizing. The waiter seemed uninterested. The food was average, nothing special. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, even though I had a great experience there a couple of years ago when the pub was bu...

"A slightly bizarre experience we were welcomed warmly, taken to our table, and given a menu for pre dinner drinks. No food menus were brought. We ordered drinks, which arrived, but still no menus! So we asked for them. No wine list brought. So we asked for one. All rather odd. The starters were mixed a bland crab risotto, a rather vinegary tartare, an excellent parfait and a crispy egg which needed to be runnier, but was tasty, if too salty. The odd service continued: three of the four of us had finished do the waiter cleared our plates including the one of our friend who hadn’t finished, who was left holding a cracker in her hand! The mains were again mixed and generally over salty. The ravioli were excellent; the steak good but in a sauce which was heavy handed on the seasoning, the fish pleasant, again slightly salty and verging on the overcooked. We had chocolate soufflé for pudding generally well made and tasty, but again the service was odd an ice cream was pushed into it at the table by the waiter which caused a good amount of soufflé to fall inelegantly onto the serving plate; the cheese plate was an interesting but small selection of well kept cheese. Good petit fours (though we were surprised that one containing nuts was offered to us all despite one of us not eating nuts, which we had mentioned). So probably four stars over all, but only just. It’s good to see the restaurant open again but based on this experience, while it’s fine dining, it’s got some way to go to reach the standard of cooking I’m sure they’d like to aspire to."
