Had dinner with my son yesterday, kids pizza was a Chicago town pizza stuck in the microwave. Lasagne was burnt and chewy. Staff were not very friendly. Very overpriced for quality of food

Service was very poor, with a lack of staff for the volume of customers. The Abbot ale was awful and got worse as the evening progressed, so much so that I had to change to bottled beer. The pub in general could do with a good clean!

I had a table at the TA Bassaleg for my birthday celebrations. The staff were amazing, and couldn’t be more accommodating. The food was lovely and we were able to stay at our table from 2pm to close, next to a log burner!! Staff were lovely I got to be fair. The Sunday lunch wasn't the best. The vegetables were hard, the meat was not fresh in was packet rubbish. Very disappointed. Very over priced. Also they never asked us if anyone had an allergies. The 2 children my son and my cousin child both have allergies dairy and nut. They need to be asking people about allergies.

We made a reservation for Father's Day lunch at this restaurant. It took one hour for our food to arrive, and when we inquired about it, the staff showed no concern as if it was our issue, not theirs. The food was mediocre when it finally arrived. The restaurant was not even very busy, so there was no excuse for the delay. I would recommend avoiding this place.

Such a shame, been looking forward to trying here for ages, Went today to enjoy Easter Sunday lunch but it was such a disappointment We were a table of 5 so opened a tab, we ordered two sharing starters one came quickly the other came 10 minutes after the first just as my parents were eating their starters the mains came out, but only 3 out of 5 dinners we waited another 10 minutes before the other mains came out. We went here for a meal for our last night in Newport. The table was reserved but the location of the table is not great. The fireplace was directly in the way of the seat and my son banged his head quite hard. Terrible position. Table 15 FYI. Also it was 7.30pm and the lighting was not great. I had to use my phone light at one point just to read the menu. The lights were turned on eventually but they hardly made a difference. I could hardly see my food. However, the food was very nice and came out quickly. The staff were top notch too.

I visited this restaurant today for Sunday lunch and was extremely disappointed. The beef dinner was terrible, barely warm, with thick, disgusting fat throughout the meat. The cauliflower cheese and carrots were almost raw, the gravy was thin and left a unpleasant feeling in the mouth, and the Yorkshire pudding was soggy. The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the roast potatoes. The cutlery container was dirty and filled with loose salt, covering the bottom of the forks and knives which were not washed properly. This establishment is awful. I don't even know where to begin. The bartender was unhelpful, the food was revolting, and we had to wait an hour even though we arrived at 12:10. I will never return. We even showed people who pulled into the parking lot pictures of our food when they asked if it was good, and we told them no. They left without even entering the restaurant. The mac and cheese lacked flavor and had no crispy crust - it looked like it had been reheated in the microwave. The steak sandwich was so tough that I couldn't even eat it.
