"Landlord Ivan was the reason for my repeated visits. He is a singular man. Also the 'regulars ' were welcoming and friendly. The best Guinness anywhere. Sadly, I no longer have reason to travel thousands of miles from Australia to Northern Ireland, (the person I was visiting has no wish to see me again) but if I am ever that way again, I would call in for the craic. "I would like to express my gratitude to the manager, Barry, at Sugarcane. I've dined there several times, and the food has always been excellent. However, it was Barry's outstanding service that really stood out during my recent visit. When I accidentally dropped my car key down a drain and was unable to drive home, he went above and beyond to help me retrieve it. He spent about 15 minutes, wearing gloves and trying various methods, before he and another staff member finally succeeded in getting it out. This kind of dedication is rare, and it speaks volumes about the level of service at Sugarcane. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, as you can trust that you will receive exceptional service. Thank you, Barry, for your incredible help!"

"We were looking for a dog friendly cafe after a walk around the Stormont estate and this fantastic cafe delivered on so many levels!! After a friendly greeting and a run down of the extensive hot chocolate menu (the chocolate orange was incredible!! we ordered drinks, together with a lemon and coconut cake that melted in our mouths and pecan and caramel crunch that was heaven. We jumped straight in and ordered seconds and then thirds(! as soon as possible. The friendly, welcoming atmosphere and doggy treats topped off our visit and means we’ll be back again and would highly recommend to others!"

"Very welcoming staff. Service quick and efficient. Good choice of menu. We chose scallops and cod cheek dishes for starters. The former was outstanding, the cod cheeks in coating a little dry but still enjoyable. Both of us had the halibut dish as mains with sides of greens and Comber potatoes. Absolutely first rate. The bean cassoulet and asparagus were perfect accompaniments. Only minor criticism was the deep, small bowl the course was served in. It made it hard to eat the food easily. The desserts we chose were pear tartin and the chocolate fondant special. Again first rate dishes. The young chef, Peepa, in charge of the desserts should be congratulated for creating such wonderful dishes. The fondant was one of the best I have ever tasted. Overall a superb meal at a reasonable price."

"We had a fabulous lunch here today. It was our first visit. My husband is coeliac and there was plenty of choice for him. He chose the burger which he said was delicious. I had the lamb shank done in a red wine gravy with mash potatoes. It was the best lamb I’ve ever tasted. The home made key lime pie I had for desert was sublime! All our deserts were home made and lovely. We will definitely be back. I was so impressed with how friendly the waitress was and how fast the service was. Compliments to the chef!"
