"The Nelson Head is an authentic pub that has been serving delicious, homemade, hearty food for a long time. It caters to both locals and visitors, with walls adorned with memorabilia and local items of interest. They offer a wide selection of ales and ciders, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the liver and bacon dish with mashed potatoes and peas, which was perfection. My husband struggled to finish his generous portion of scampi, which was the largest we had ever seen. The food was great value for money and perfect for a winter's day. The pub is dog-friendly and has an inviting open fire to relax next to. It is conveniently located near Horsey Gap beach, making it a great stop before or after a visit to the beach. It's no wonder this pub was recommended to us - we will definitely be returning."

"Unfortunately this place is closing down and up for sale. The food is superb, their prices far, far, far too little, waitress who was excellent on our two visits said they're not making it pay after a the increases in utilities, business rates etc..... Put your prices up, you're too cheap. Cuppa tea £1.... Make it £1.40 nobody would mind, your standard English breakfast is a large one and £9 or £10 anywhere else. The OAP (and they've got more money than anybody else) lunch time special, two courses about £9, three course less than £12 with prawn cocktail starter and homemade apple pie dessert... £15 is still very reasonable.... C'mon, do the area a favour, stay open, bump up the prices, keep the same quality food and everyone's a winner."

"We waited a long time for the waitress to take our drink orders, and when we requested a wine menu, we were informed there wasn't one, but the waitress could remember the options. They didn't have any alcohol-free cider, so we settled for a fruit juice and two glasses of wine from memory. We ordered our food, two steaks and lamb. While the lamb was good, the steaks were not up to par, especially considering the price. When we asked for the dessert menu, there wasn't one, and we were once again reliant on the waitress's memory. We decided to skip dessert as we couldn't make a choice without seeing a physical menu. The waitress did her best working alone between the bar and restaurant, and she was friendly but inexperienced. In the past, we had great experiences with excellent food at this restaurant, but it has significantly declined. It's such a shame because it had the potential to be a go-to spot for casual meals and drinks, as well as special dining experiences. My husband had booked this for my birthday, and his disappointment was palpable. The owners need to improve their standards and bring this place back to its former glory by hiring experienced hospitality staff."

"We booked a table at Whites prior to arriving on our holiday as I was aware there were only a few tables here. We arrive on time with children in tow and sit down. I am surprised to order drinks and recieve these in...plastic containers, but not as surprised as my wife who orders a glass of wine only to get this in a half pint plastic cup!!!. The drinks are not cheap so you would expect a glass at least and don't forget your out for a meal not sitting in McDonald's. We are given menus and only at this point and NOT when I booked are we told all food is served at your table in takeaway containers and wooden forks. At this point we decided not to order as I refuse to sit at a table and eat food from containers. The joke here is that on their special evening events where the food is slightly more expensive you get a plate!!. I was told the reason for containers is due to covid, clearly there is no issue with covid if it's one of their special nights and you pay more. Please don't insult people's intelligence as whether you give out containers or plates your staff are still handling them and they were not wearing gloves or masks so what's the difference. We had one drink and left and popped to the chippy opposite and probably saved ourselves at least. If you want to serve food in cheap containers and wooden forks then at least have the decency to tell customers when they book rather than wait till they arrive. We visited other restaurants during our stay and happy to say we got plates and proper cutlery."

"My experience at this pub was like a combination of all the worst things you could encounter on a trip out. Despite being advertised as dog-friendly, we were restricted to a small decking area with limited seating and a blocked view of the garden. The kids played on the play area, but we couldn't properly supervise them due to the layout. The prices for drinks were high, and the cost of snacks was downright ridiculous. We were shocked to find that our bill came to £27 for just four bags of crisps. When we questioned this, the staff adjusted the price slightly before insisting on the higher amount. We ended up leaving after just one round, as we had never paid such inflated prices for drinks before. Another family we spoke to also felt taken advantage of with the snack prices. Overall, our experience was disappointing and overpriced."
