Lots to choose from n this choppy, which is in a good location, you can get your food and then do a short walk to the market square and sit under the tree to enjoy them.

Truly great little take away! The food is really good quality and huge choice excellent pricing. COD is white and fresh, everyone else delighted with their food, will be going again before we leave!!

Dropped in here for lunch. Had the last available table! Ordered the Small Fish, Chips and Peas. Look at my photo please. All this for £4.20! Could not fault it. Chips were especially nice. Would recommend.

We visited as a family of four, as we were in the area.The shop was busy, which is a good sign and the staff were very helpful.We all had cod and chips, with sides like curry sauce and mushy peas. All was very nice but the cod was especially fresh, tasty and well cooked. None of it was greasy.We heard from a local, that it’s under new management but not sure if that’s true. Well worth a visit!

Having spotted how busy the shop was despite the indifferent reviews here, we decided to have a fish takeaway on the last night of our holiday. What a great choice!We had two haddock and a large chips. Very tasty fish in crisp batter (and not too much batter either) and the chips were good as well. The price was about the same as our local chippie and the fish was almost as good! Very quick service.

We chose Wirksworth Fish Bar purposely as we wanted a dinner of Fish Chips. You can sit in but we chose to take ours away. My husband chose plaice to go with his chips well we've seen thicker sheets of toilet roll, it was very thin and small. Hubby didn't think much of it. The chips were ok as was the sausage in batter that I had. The best item of the meal was a spring roll we ordered which was delicious.

Always go for the 'Bag of chips ' with a fishcake, mini-fish or sausage and a pot of sauce/peas. If you do this you will get a portion of chips and choice about three times bigger than the 'Fish 'n ' chip special ' that comes in the smallest tray of chips they can find. I feel sorry for the staff, they always seem chased like a shark by the manager, seem very under pressure to give the smallest portion they can make. So Value for money if you pick wisely.

We recently moved to wirksworth and tried the chippy which was absolutely delicious the chips were perfect and the food was fresh and hot and great service. Unfortunately we went again last week and realized it's now under new management the quality of the food is not even half as good as before the chips are absolutely disgusting and it seems very small portions for big prices. Not impressed at all and left very dissapointed as we love a good chippy dinner

Very nice fish and chips the staff are very talkative while you are waiting normally you are not waiting long due to the quick and hard working staff, I wouldn’t recommend going at 12:30-1:00 on a week day as the kids from the school down the road like to come up and have chips which therefore leads to a big long queue, they also do mixed kababs, not very easy parking seems there’s no parking spots and it’s in the middle of the market place which then makes it very busy, I would definitely recommend it!!
