"We are fairly frequent visitors to Basel in order to visit our daughter, who has lived and worked in this lovely city for about 6 years. After a long delay due to COVID, we have returned this week to celebrate her 30th birthday. We always...stay at the Les Troia Rois, which is always top flight, and is again. We also always have at least one dinner meal each visit at Cheval Blanc and the magic of Peter Knogl. We had a magnificent dinner for four last night, topped by the saddle of venison (mousse line of celery and sauce rouennaise), sea bass with chorizo and cucumber, and lagoustine and in a light curry and green apple sauce with paired wines. It was a fabulous celebration of our daughter’s birthday and Peter Knogl’s “greatest joy [in] pampering our guests with a cuisine full of color, shape and sunshine.” Such an incredible four hour extravaganza is not cheap, but one doesn’t often find restaurants with 3 Michelin stars and 19 GaultMillau points that are not worth the cost. Cheval Blanc is a relatively small restaurant but gorgeous in decor and a priceless Rhine River view. The service is spectacular, good humored, but serious in its quest for excellence and guest comfort and information. A special ending is a humidor of choice, and immensely fine Swiss chocolates."

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."

"I held a small event (20 people) at L’Atelier Basel. Ms. Kleiber responded to all of my requests and the whole organization ran smoothly. I would like to thank Moana Kleiber and her team again for the great service. The restaurant is very nice and tastefully decorated. We were able to enjoy the event in the lower area in a cozy atmosphere. The poke bowls were super tasty, there was something to suit every taste. A top price-performance ratio. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We'd love to come back!"

"I went to this restaurant like I go to a museum with the interest of discovering a foreign world. It's the world of my childhood which I'm glad burned. The large room is paneled with dark wood, there are geraniums on the terrace, and Aromat and liquid seasoning (not Maggi) are on the table as always. The vegetable rösti was good, although the portion was far too small. Whether frozen vegetables really have to be used in such museum style restaurants probably so. It doesn't matter, the hash browns and vegetables were tasty. The open beer was fresh and also tasted very good. A real ray of hope in this post war wasteland was the waiter, who although he spoke perfect Basel German and had a typically Swiss friendliness was recognizable as a secondo. The price was lower midrange and okay for once. The toilets worked."

"Ordered via Uber, delivery would have been between 5.55pm and 6.15pm, I called the restaurant at 6.30pm. They informed me that uber would be responsible for the delivery. At 6:40 p.m. I contacted uber, who in turn contacted the restaurant with feedback that the delivery had been canceled. Horrible service! Never again!"

"Das Essen ist sehr gut, kein Zweifel, aber...Ambiente ist veraltet und kalt.Untypisch wird kein Pizzateigbrot weder zu den Oliven, noch zu einem andern Zeitpunkt serviert.Zu keinem Zeitpunkt wird zur Pizza und zu den Penne Pfeffermühle und/oder scharfes Öl serviert oder angeboten.Kellner sind nicht wirklich aufmerksam.Das schlimmste ist aber, dass die Kleider nach dem Besuch regelrecht nach Essen stinken.Eigentlich schade, denn das Essen ist wie schon erwähnt sehr gut. Aber alle anderen Punkte lassen das Restaurant in die untere Mittelmässigkeit fallen..."

"Wir als Thai Fans waren leider sehr enttäuscht vom Essen. Das Essen war total salzig aber leider auch geschmacklos. Wir hatten Pad siew mit Tofu und pad krapau mit Poulet das Pad siew war einfach nur salzig und das Gemüse musste man suchen. Die Nudeln klebten aneinader und waren teils noch gummig. Das pad krapau war leider auch überhaupt nicht authentisch ausser der Schärfe. Das einzige was nicht ganz schlecht war war der Mango sticky rice aber mit seinen 14.50. pro Portion echt überrissen. Wir waren schon etliche Male in Thailand und haben besseren streetfood für 20 Bath bekommen. Sehr schade."

Seit Jahren zähle ich zu den Stammgästen des Restaurants Mandir.Wenn ich das Lokal betrete, dann fühle ich mich wie zu Hause am Mittagstisch.In der Küche steht ein Team, das durch die konstante Qualität ihrer indischen Speisen täglich viele Stammgäste zufriedenstellt.Zu den abwechslungsreichen Tagesmenüs zählen: Verschiedene Suppen, abgestimmt mit erfrischenden indischen Gewürzen; das obligate Naanbrot, Fleisch- oder Fischspeisen mit pikanten Currys. Man spührt das es ein Familien Betrieb ist und wird dem entsprechenden immer wärmstens empfangen. Sie geben sich alle immer Mühe das man zu frieden ist und erreichen dies auch. Bravo!"

"I visited the restaurant on my lunch break. There was a great lunch offer for just under CHF 20. This included the selected main menu, which was no smaller than the standard menu on the menu, and an appetizer of your choice, which was, however, reduced in size, e.g. an spring roll or a small bowl of soup. But it was far enough and everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. I'll definitely come back."

"I was finally able to stay overnight at the Krafft which I've heard so much about! It was a wonderful experience all around, from the reception at the reception to the stylishly furnished room with the handwritten welcome card, the aperitif in the Consum Bar and the breakfast with the homemade Birchermüesli and the freshly cut fruit salad. What impressed me most was the cheerful and warm team; all the employees I interacted with were super motivated and friendly. I'm really looking forward to my next stay!"

"The worst thing was the service. They apparently lost our order then ignored us. Finally, an honest 1:45 later, it was delivered. No apologies, no complimentary wine, nothing. Inexcusable. The pizza was served whole, not sliced and they looked at me when I asked them to cut it. Really? And it was poor. The penne pasta was the best of the 3 dishes but it was not worth the 107 francs by a long shot. I won't be back."

"First of all, many thanks to Tobi and his team for the lovely evening I had with my family. We found you thanks to an app. As a vegan, it is still difficult for me to find a selection of good food in restaurants. That's why I can only celebrate this cuisine! From starter, main course to dessert it was just so delicious and really really good. The waiting time between courses was reasonable (all tables were occupied) and so we were able to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and have good conversations and had a wonderful evening. Our first visit will not be our last. Thank you"

Es gibt da weit bessere Thairestaurants in Basel und Umgebung.Der Service lässt leider auch zu wünschen übrig.Was auch zu bemängeln ist, die Sauberkeit ausserhalb des Restaurants.Wir haben uns die Mühe gemacht, auch mal hinter den Kulissen nach zusehen, im Hinterhof waren Abfallcontainer, die abartig gestunken haben. Ein wahlloses Durcheinander von Verpackungen und Müll jeglicher Art. Küchenpersonal ohne Haarnetz, zum Teil im Sommer ohne Oberbekleidung.Die Restaurantleiterin ist ganz und gar nicht die nette und freundliche Dame, die sie gern vorgibt, wir haben von sehr vielen ehemaligen Bewohnern des Hauses erfahren, das sie die Leute gerne überwacht und terrorisiert."

"This restaurant used to be good so I am doubly disappointed by our dinner. The dishes are very prettily presented dishes but the cooking skills are lacking. In addition, there were two incidents that are simply unacceptable in a restaurant of this price category. Four of us ordered the Angus steak (2nd most expensive dish on the menu) and we were asked how done we wanted them. We all picked a different doneness from rare to done. Waitress must have served them randomly because we all ended having a different doneness that we had asked. For example I asked for rare and I got the done one. The wine (red): we sent the first one back because it had a lot of sediment. The second one (different wine) has just as much sediment. We just gave up after that and drank the (not very good) wine."

"Had a lovely evening meal here with a colleague after attending a conference in the city. We had booked, on a Thurs, and were glad we did cos it was busy. The service was fantastic and made the evening. I ate the potatoe parcels with mushrooms and really enjoyed it, also very happy to get a vegetarian option. There were other vegetarian options available. My colleague had chicken wings and said that they were great. A good time was had by both of us and l would definitely go back."

"Our visit to Cartell in Basel was truly exceptional and left us thoroughly impressed. Right from the start, our taste buds were tantalized by the nachos served with homemade guacamole and an array of five different salsas. The combination of crispy nachos and the fresh, creamy guacamole was a delightful treat, and the assortment of salsas provided an unexpected burst of flavors. For our main course, we had the opportunity to sample a wide variety of tacos. I opted for the selection with beef, poultry, shrimp, and fish, while my partner preferred the chicken and beef tacos. Each taco was a masterpiece on its own – the fillings were perfectly balanced, and the tortillas were fresh and authentic. However, what truly made the experience memorable was not just the outstanding food, but also the impeccable service. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and accommodating. They ensured that our evening went smoothly and that we felt genuinely welcomed. Overall, our evening at Cartell was a culinary journey that exceeded all expectations. The quality of the dishes, the diversity of flavors, and the excellence of the service undoubtedly deserve a five-star rating. We wholeheartedly recommend Cartell and will certainly return to relish this exceptional dining experience once again."
