"When you step into the Garden Tea Room in Penrith, you'll find a charming oasis in the middle of the busy town. This lovely establishment has quickly become my favorite spot for a cozy cup of tea and a delicious treat. My recent visit with my cousin was absolutely delightful. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the warm smell of freshly baked goods and the sound of people chatting. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, perfect for a leisurely catch-up. I enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate in a cute dog-shaped mug that made me smile. The rich chocolate, fluffy marshmallows, and creamy whipped cream made each sip a delight for the taste buds. My cousin, who loves savory food, had a tasty ham sandwich piled high with juicy ham and fresh salad ingredients. Every bite showed the kitchen's dedication to using quality ingredients and making dishes with care. We also had slices of crispy bar cake that were full of flavor and texture, showing off the tea room's baking skills. The staff provided exceptional service with friendly smiles and genuine care for our experience. The Garden Tea Room is more than just a place to eat; it's an experience that stays with you long after you finish your meal. The combination of delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and great service makes it a hidden gem in Penrith. I highly recommend this lovely establishment to anyone looking for a pleasant break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you want something sweet or savory, the Garden Tea Room has something to satisfy every craving. So come and experience this charming oasis and discover a culinary haven that will leave you wanting more."

"The pub itself is cozy and characterful, and has a cottage like charm. Staffed by young and friendly staff, the Sunday menu was limited to 3 options at a set price. £35 for 2 courses and £39 for 3 courses. Expensive, but we had high hopes given the pubs’ accolades and associations with other quality establishments locally. We opted for 2 courses and our children ordered from a limited choice children’s menu priced at £15 per child. Sourdough bread and homemade butter arrived moments after our order had been taken and all was initially positive. However, the main course arrived and the disappointment set in. Served on starter sized plates, the braised lamb was formed and resembled an overturned tin of tuna. The portion was meagre. Accompanied by the smallest ever roasted potatoes the plates looked sparse and underwhelming. The sides for the 3 adults were bland and uninspiring BBQ cabbage was one again they were minimal in quantity. The kids meals faired little better, equally dull and lacking. My mother in law opted for the fish and was presented with a single fillet of sea bass with a Yorkshire pudding and a mass of sauce. I ordered the Jam Roly Poly for dessert hoping for something memorable but instead was served a heavily suet based pudding chewy from being overcooked. The homemade custard that accompanied it was so thick that it had set in the serving jug. I was so disappointed. Overall, I felt overcharged and underwhelmed. Not somewhere I’d return or recommend."
