"chips are up there with the best I've had in the country. The customer service is excellent and the cooks obviously take pride in their product, as is evident by the quality. Please be prepared to wait at busy times as you can't prepare food of this standard in 10 minutes. The drinks are reasonably priced and the courtyard is a wonderful place to eat in warmer times. It was a pleasure to eat in an establishment that put customer service and quality of food above simply making a profit."

"Abusive owner and staff! Do not go their if you have kids, dogs or anything that may annoy them. Just arrived in town after a long flight. Thought this cafe looked cute. Ordered some drinks from their menu which were ok. However, I soon noticed the strange behaviour of the owner who was directing strange comments towards my 5 year old Who was asking what 's that etc. He avoided answering the questions of my child. He then said ill give you a spoon full of that mate, hahah without adressing me or looking at me once , regarding the spirulina on display. My son was obviously a little disturbed by the strange way of talking, but I thought it must be this man 's way of communication and he didn 't mean any harm. My son then had a tantrum moment, unhappy with his banana milk, and went to the window to look at the ornaments, he was not braking anything...but this man said, Don 't touch that mate ill throw you out of here in a minute to a 5 year old! To which my son tapped him on the leg. This horrific man then turned to me and attacked me verbally shouting at me that we were scum and what kind of people were we. How I did not know what kind of life he had and better get out of his establishment for the insulting behaviour. He kept repeating his son was here today working over and over he said this, im not sure why....I tried to reason with him that this was a 5 year old boy, but he would not stop shouting, I couldn 't get a word in edge ways. I realised there was no way to reason with a man in such mental turmoil....At one point I thought he will physically attack me at any moment. He was very intimidating. I saw my son had gone to hide at the back of the cafe under a table. I quickly paid, (his staff member, who made no eye contact but said to her boss, leave it), as i thought he may do something worse, whilst throughout this man continued his verbal assault. I collected my son and friend, who was also very shaken and left. I have since wondered whether I should have contacted the police to report this behaviour. Kids will be kids, but there is never an excuse for someone in customer service to behave that way, let alone to a mother and young child. I fear I am not the first nor the last to have experienced this treatment."

"A really popular and atmospheric little watering hole. The car park was very busy which normally indicates something is good. Walking into the beer garden I couldn't believe how quirky it was. Some great covered and heated outdoor spaces with arm chairs and photos on the wall to mimic an indoor sitting room. Then there was a massive hand carved wooden table and what I could only describe as dining thrones. Just next to this was a well surrounded by benches. There was plenty of spaces to sit outdoors. Inside was nice and cooling with a buzzing busy atmosphere but no tables available. Staff were incredibly friendly and offered suggestions on what drink to try. The food serving station outside offered very welcome shade in the heat whilst drinking my beer and contemplating an evening meal. I didn't pop in to eat but seeing some of the plates being served swayed me. This was clearly a step up from normal pub grub. I enjoyed a really nice and different ice cold lager. Then had a stunning burger, skin on fries and slaw served on a board. Delicious!!!"

"We are ashamed to admit that it 's been several months since our last visit, but the meal last night was excellent, so we will not be away for so long until our next visit. We all opted for Steaks, our wives went for 8oz Ribeye, medium rare, whereas us guys opted for the hearty 16oz TBone rare. The pub was busy and we are aware that they have a very small kitchen and I guess our food was served about half an hour after ordering, but as always, very much worth the weight. Steaks were cooked to perfection, every time we have we always say, that was the best steak so far , again, it was the same last night. Even the fact that the plates are full, hot, we plenty of peas. Chips and the onions were cooked to perfection. To see four empty plates, apart from the TBone says it all. We all went for pudding, which I regret, as my stomach was too full, so I gave half of mine away to my friend. But again, these puddings were all delicious, between us we had, treacle sponge pudding with custard, apple crumble cake with Chantilly cream and a Limoncello sponge pudding with ice cream and berries. Thought this was lacking in flavour. But was still a good pudding. It was also nice to see that the rickety furniture has been replaced with more robust pieces and that the lighting appeared to be more brighter. A much more comfortable than before, not that this really put us of. All of the above with plenty to drink, that left you with a bursting stomach, for less that £100 is still good value for money. We 'll be back!!"

"This is one of the finest hidden gems Somerset has to offer! Nestled in the gorgeous village of Wookey, the Wookey Hub clearly prides itself on serving the community, and doing it fairly. My partner and I spent well over an hour browsing some excellent local produce in the shop, followed by one of the finest full English breakfasts I've ever had. The shocker was that NOTHING was overpriced, and we came away with a bag full of stuff, including a fabulous Christmas wreath, made by a very talented person in the village. They do home deliveries too and, as we're fairly local (Wells), we'll be giving that a go. They also do packageless sales of things like pasta, washing up liquid, milk etc. Oh, and if you like mustard, they sell a wholegrain one made with cider in Wedmore (a few miles away) it's glorious!"

"Visited here after being recommended by a local hotel nearby. At first the lady that greeted us said there was no table for over 45mins even though there was multiple empty tables around the pub. Luckily a manager came past and seated us at one of the empty tables. After that we were the last people to come in and be seated so I dont know why the waitress didn't want to seat us straight away. We then ordered our food and the food was incredible... you could not fault the food however after eating our mains and leaving our empty plates on the table, it took over an hour for someone to come to the table to clear the plates and ask if we wanted another drink. We then waited another 30 mins before someone offered us a dessert menu and being my boyfriends birthday we really wanted a dessert. The desserts then came quite quickly but again were then left waiting an enormous time for the bill. This would have been understandable if the pub was busy but at this time it seemed like there was only one table left of friends in the pub so all the waiters and waitresses were sitting down with their friends having a good time but leaving us feeling very neglected in the corner. As the time went on we started to feel unwelcome and almost an inconvenience to the staff. In total we spent 3.5 hrs in the pub and only had mains, desserts and 2 drinks... not an acceptable time frame. Overall the food was beautiful but it was overshadowed by the pure neglect by the staff."

"This used to be a great restaurant but unfortunately has gone downhill big time. Gone are the linen tablecloths, serviettes, table candle and small flower. Now just a wooden table with the menu printed on a used grubby paper “placemat”. Difficult to understand the restricted menu. The take-away menu offered full choice of dishes. No Chinese beer. Standard lagers plus Tiger brand. Beers weren’t poured just a glass and bottle served on the table. Food was prepared and served within 5 minutes making me wondering if it was microwaved. No food candle warmers so food got cold quickly. Condiments in grubby cellars. When I mentioned to the waiter the above I was told “we’re trying to be like Wannagamma”! One noodle, one chicken dish and two beers came to £39. Very overpriced for the food quality. Generally a poor dining experience with no ambiance. Definitely would not recommend and we shan’t be going again. Parking: Virtually zero Wheelchair accessibility: None stair access couldn’t see a lift Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1 Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Parking is unavailable"

"problems, the booking so offered upgrade, but found the whole experience missing. no place to check-in was confusing. there was moist / water dropping down wall in bedroom staircase, no lock at bathroom door, not much room to hang clothes, no dressing, only a chair, in bathroom to open or close. insane. not a traditional tee. customer service lacks professionality for 4 stars. slowly forgotten waiter/server. no steak knives strange. eating was very expensive, but that is to be expected. we have lacked food service. very bubbly waiter but felt that he would listen more attentiveness to detail and know about menu. to casual in comparison to other 4 stars. it needs an enormous improvement. I sometimes forgot something. had to go to get bill was waiting too long. the server came into the coat to take breakfast orders, slowly to bring food, we had to go before they came to clarify. the room was very clean, but for the money we stayed better. upgrade was nice, but not yet on for the lack of detail and service we had on other 4 stars. would not be visited again unless improvements were made. we had not felt that we had looked around enough and were willing to go. you could not really find someone who really talked about it and felt like it didn't make any difference at all. I think more than a 2/3 star closer. we were just a small amount of diners so we could see why service so slow and poor we were not a warning. would have been better, a traditional tee to breakfast another couple that was agreed on our side. total mean."

"Very oldie worldly pub that steeps in history. Sat outside in the lovely cosy courtyard drinking a fine locally brewed real ale. Staff helpful and friendly, good typical pub grub on the menu catering for all tastes and preferences."

"So, for the first time in a gbk, it was long to go. after this experience I will not rush back. the restaurant was about half full when we arrived. we were standing in the sign “Sat Here”... for age groups. many employees looked, but no one realized that we were there. just at the point where we were gone, one of the employees went by and collected us. No apology that she was left for an old one. try to order through the QR option, but system would say card was accepted, but then the transaction would not enforce. So went into the bar to order. the food came, the thin pommes were cold, not warm, but hardly warm. have caught the attention of one of the workers who was tested for heat by shooting their hands in the pommes. she agreed that they were cold, said sorry and took them back. we were hungry, so the burgers began. yo be fair, they were delicious. after the burger was almost finished, another employee asked how it was. I mentioned the pommes and she went to the cash. they finally came by when I finished my burger. at least this time they were hot. overall, no great experience, and will not rush back soon. the personal could do with some work on their customer service skills."

"We stayed here as a family of four. I chose it because it was close to Longleat where we had visited for the day and because the family room included two single beds for the children. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The staff were very chatty with our girls and we were shown to our room. The room was a good size for the 4 of us. Tea and coffee was available but the only tempting thing about it was the Lotus biscuits. The en-suite bathroom was disappointing. It was really quite grubby and in need of a deep clean. A renovation wouldn’t go amiss. The breakfast was excellent! I had the full English and asked for eggs, bacon and sausages to be well done which they were. Best hotel breakfast I’ve had in a while. Overall the place served its purpose as a place to sleep for the night but I wouldn’t stay here again."

"Pleasant enough waitress though she ‘forgot’ to take our order! Once we had bought that to her attention (after a wait of at least she duly apologised, took our order popped it through to the kitchen. Whilst we were waiting another table sent...back their food which was redelivered mins later. Still no sign of our food. Kitchen staff seemed busy popping in out of the bar/restaurant (popping lights on; it was lunchtime…bizarre)! The table whose food was redelivered left (without paying)….a subtle sign that we should perhaps have done the same but we’d already ordered, we were hungry, miles from home with no knowledge of any other eateries nearby we continued waiting patiently. At this point there were three tables occupied; one people) had finished their meals before we arrived some earlier ordered desserts, the other people) had just finished eating. They arrived after us but ordered before (as mentioned earlier we were overlooked when it came to ordering). After a wait of in excess of we were told by the waitress that the kitchen had ‘lost’ our order (and also the dessert order of the neighbouring table) but our food was ‘on its way’. Obviously we told them not to bother as did the other table. How this can happen when there were just two tables occupied when we arrived (total customers) beggars belief! Hideously poor service from the kitchen to the waitress…..don’t bother; do yourself a favour drive right on by!"

"Absolutely without doubt the best Spoons we have visited. Food was lovely. Staff were friendly. Atmosphere was relaxed.Outside seating area including the converted concrete pods were genius. On site parking was a Godsend. Prices for drinks, menu selection the overall fixtures fittings were first class. Of the 52 Spoons we have visited so far The quarter Jack is the best by a mile. Even the loos are pleasant. Well done. Tim give this branch the credit it deserves!!!!!"

"Every time we visit this restaurant, it is a wonderful experience. During our last visit, there was a bit of a delay with two items from our large order. When we inquired about it, the head chef was very apologetic and quickly resolved the issue. Additionally, he kindly offered everyone at our table a complimentary hot or cold drink, demonstrating excellent service recovery. This showed us how much Rye Bakery values their customers, and we will definitely be returning regularly. Bravo! The restaurant has a family-friendly atmosphere and is highly recommended for families. For lunch, expect to pay between £10-20 per person. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch with a rating of 5 each. Recommended dishes include the Mezze Bowl, Bakery items, and Shakshouka. Vegetarians will be delighted with the wide selection of vegetarian offerings, which come highly recommended."

"On a crowded and rainy day in Clarke's Village, and faced with an incredibly long line at Cafe Nero's, I decided to explore for another option... The Village Cafe came to the rescue! I will definitely go there directly next time. The table service was friendly, the coffee was delicious, and the crumpets with butter were very satisfying. Service: Sit-down Meal type: Brunch"

"A lovely cafe that is perfectly situated for something tasty to eat drink after you have had a leisurely look around the delightful City of Wells, or a visit to the stunning Cathedral that is steeped in English history. This café sell a wide range of hot cold beverages that include various hot cold coffee varieties, hot chocolate, tea, milkshakes smoothies, plus breakfasts, toasted sandwiches, panini's, danish pastries, biscuits plus some delicious looking cake slices, I visited on a very busy Saturday lunchtime ordered a large strong cappuccino with a cookies cream slice from the friendly very polite server, I then waited further along the counter to receive my cake after my drink was freshly made but sadly after finding the only available table to sit at, I took a sip of my coffee which was a good temperature but very weak in taste even though I was offered a stronger blend, my cake was a good size but needed chilling as it was quite warm, so a bit sickly. I look forward to revisiting at a later date but will ask for an extra shot of coffee, this store is also very pet friendly which is ideal if you have your dog with you."

"The Christmas decoration and atmosphere at this pub are fantastic and set the stage for a great evening. We were excited to try the dishes from the Christmas Party Menu, with many of us opting for the Ballotine of bronze turkey. The turkey looked and tasted amazing, but we were disappointed with the portion size and the absence of vegetables. We had assumed that side dishes like carrots and sprouts would be served, but we were told that what was on our plate was all we would get: 2 slices of turkey, 1 pig in blanket, a small roast potato, and a medium roast parsnip with a drizzle of juniper jus. Despite being tasty, my group left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. Overall, the food was delicious but we felt it was overpriced considering the portion size and lack of additional vegetables."

"You know what, I'm actually really impressed by The Bell Inn The staff behind the bar and who brought our food out were really professional as well as friendly. My meal was perfect as well. I liked that it came with a mix of veg, it didn't feel too heavy. Others had lasagne and said it was delicious. A few people made the comment that some choices on the menu were also shown on the specials board, it would be better for The Bell Inn to only show their weekly dishes on the specials board instead. I'd be very happy to return."

"The recent renovation of The George's interior has been mostly positive, with one notable exception - the excessive number of doors. This results in a constant stream of people coming and going, creating a chilly dining experience. Despite this, the food was very good, though not always served hot enough, and slightly expensive. The white wine is never properly chilled, and the service can be hit or miss depending on the staff working that day. One consistent issue is the view from certain tables facing the kitchen - a fluorescent light, worktops, and tiling are not in line with the historical charm of the restaurant."
