"We popped in on a Sunday after some shopping. Coffee shops in the area were packed, no tables busy but we needed a respite after some shopping with our 11 month old baby. We stood at the door waiting to be seated which felt like an eternity. When we got in with our baby who was sleeping in the pram we were told that there was nowhere to pop the pram while he was sleeping but he could be popped in a highchair no problem at all. No checking how old he was etc (he was under his rain over not visible) what if I needed to breastfeed once he woke up? Or if he was a newborn the parents just wanted a bite to eat? There was adequate space for a pushchair, fancy turning away a family with a sleeping child. While I completely understand that you don’t wish to place a child next to friends couples dining out it’s a little unfair to turn away people on the basis of what are your restaurant regulations or whatever you want to call it do what’s morally right surely? Anyway the host was lucky our child decided to wake up at that moment because we were about to walk away considering the rather unwelcome greeting. We were hungry. Once we were seated it was all great from there. They managed to get a £50 lunch out of us! Myself my partner had black blue burgers which were cooked lovely came out within 10 mins of ordering. Our waitress was really lovely very friendly toward us smiley at our baby. Our baby had fish goujons with veggies fruit chocolate pot for dessert. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The highchair was a bit low for such a small baby so would be better if they got some with trays to avoid mess help out baby eat be more supported but he was excited either way. The high hairs were definitely more suitable to toddlers as opposed to infants. Generally a friendly service once we were there felt full satisfied so thank you to the lovely waitress for changing our experience. Just a quick fyi to the restaurant in general not all babies are loud cry. If your younger clientele aren’t happy with children in the middle of the day then maybe they shouldn’t be popping into a family restaurant?"

"We visited The Bell today for lunch. We knew ahead of time that they weren’t serving roasts today, as we called to enquire before arriving. Once settled at our table we overheard someone else asking why this was the case, to which the response was ‘lack of demand’. This was a shame as we’d have been interested to try one. We were still happy to go and choose from the usual menu. I opted for the Cumberland Sausages, Mash, Peas and Gravy and my fiancé the steak, Ale and Mushroom Pie which was served with chips and peas. My food was good, the sausages were succulent and tasty. The veg, you could tell, was either a microwave steam pouch, or from a larger frozen bag, but it was still very tasty. My partner’s said the pie filling was delicious, although it was lacking in lumps of steak and the pie was really a pie dish containing the filling and a puff pastry topper added. It’s completely personal preference with pies, but we would have preferred it to have been encased in pastry, rather than just topped. For the price, we felt the pie was a little on the expensive side for what was served- however it was still tasty. The pub was sadly lacking atmosphere with only two other diners in the lower area where we sat and a larger party up on the top deck towards the rear garden. There was only one member of front of house staff present whilst we were there, until we ordered our final drink when a colleague briefly appeared to assist with the drink order. I suspect, in fairness, coronavirus restrictions only recently having been eased contributed to the lack of ambience and the low level of trade today. Perhaps people are still a little reluctant to eat out, or maybe they had opted to eat at a later point in the day. It would be nice to see the demand for a Sunday Roast increase, and we would certainly visit to try one. All in all a nice visit."

"We stopped for a McDonald’s to charge the car up,it wasn’t as good as we hoped it would be. We went into the restaurant, and sat down,we saw a sign saying no Ice cream and milkshakes are available that was annoying as they were the two main reasons we came in but that was at the very start of the experience so if they had given me exceptional service and a great slushie then I would have given 5 stars. But that unfortunately wasn’t the case, cleanliness was about 3 stars out of 5 ,it was satisfactory for the meal but I don’t think it would have got full marks in a food hygiene inspection.I also would have liked to see a cleaner mopping floors and sweeping up and also I would have liked to see some areas cleaned! The service was also pathetic,it took 30 minutes to serve up 2 slushies,a melon bag, millionaires donut and an apple pie.It wasn’t understaffed, there were plenty of them but there were too many staff in certain areas and too few in other areas. Also they weren’t ridiculously busy for a Saturday night either,I was there for well over an hour and I saw no delivery driver. Also I have proof of evidence that they could have been prepared quicker as they were pre-prepared and only needed a 3-4 minute heat up.They need to tie the knot between the manager and working staff, they also need to give training. The slushies we’re tasty but had its problems too,on one of the slushies it wasn’t filled up high enough and we took it back to the counter and asked to fill it up,when we got it back it wasn’t filled up that much. Also the large slushie isn’t that much larger than a regular so be prepared if one of you has a large and the other one of you has a regular. However my melon bag was delicious and great value for 79p.The portions were fantastic! Now onto the positive bits, the bins are not overflowing,it’s nice and warm in there and the toilets are good and faultless. The atmosphere could have done with a bit of brightening up,they just played classical music but they could put all music on there. If McDonald’s continues to be like this, they will loose their iconic brand name and will fall! And that will be terrible for the economy, hope the chain cleans up the mess before the South Ruislip branch opens"
