"I have fond memories of meals at Al Shami years ago and went back last night. How sad and disappointed I was within 15mins of sitting down. Our waiter seemed as though you were the last person on earth he wanted in the restaurant and...he came across as being bored to tears. Food was expensive and not even mediocre. A far cry from how it used to be. As we finished our food and we’re enjoying our wine the waiter stood by our table with the bill and a card machine which felt like a not so subtle hint to hit the road. I problems there, we won’t be coming back anytime soon and I would suggest you find better places to eat."

Had dinner here on Saturday. Lovely food. Place was buzzing! Great atmosphere and good service. Had a lovely time!

Slightly slow service from inexperienced teenage waiter but the food when it came was plentiful and delicious. Four of us ate very well with booze for about £80.

Ordered take away. Terrible. Worst Schwarma I’ve tasted (and I’ve tasted plenty). Picture of shish taouk attached £11.50 for that!! Chips were stale and undercooked!

the food was very average and the service was practically not available. surprising waiters. we cut our meal short and left. continue to the walton street where there are many good restaurants and a much better atmosphere

Very languid service, very average food, very, very overpriced. I'd heard good things about the place but the waiter couldn't care less, and lied about the food and the price. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was nearly empty, but no, not worth...it and the sort of place best avoided.

definitiw a local restaurant I felt that most other diners were known to the staff, but that made a beautiful atmosphere. Unfortunately, my first choice was not available, but the Lebanese meatballs and cauliflowers were excellent! loved the traditionally decorated. table and floor! would go back!

always excellent eating delicious aromas. we order in the regular a series of appetizers both hot and cold. treats us to a takeaway and they gave us a separate pot for the dressing so that the tabbouleh did not go so sweetly so contemplative. we've been coming for 30 years, you and never going anywhere!

beautiful teller of tasty near east food. we order several smaller dishes to share. the falafels are fantastic, I think the best I had. good salad, beautiful meat and vegetarian dishes. all in a beautiful part of oxford (parking a challenge) and in a bright, spacious airy restaurant. well for larger groups, as there is a separate room, they can book for functions.
