"Anticipating a great experience from a relatively expensive sunday lunch from a posh spa and eatery I came away disappointed. On arrival passed several staff but with no response. Found the bar and bought two ridiculously expensive drinks and awaited friends. Told to come this way by staff who disappeared to talk to someone else. Very average seating. To be fair, the soup and souffle starters were good. Told they had run out of sirloin main and was offered brisket beef dinner instead with a free yorkshire which is menued as £2......are you serious, £2 for a yorkshire on a sunday lunch. Main meals chicken which was dry and brisket the same with overdone edge, the veg both served on plate and in additional bowls was just stodge and barely recognisable with greens dry and the £2 free yorkshire was like cardboard. Gave up on deserts as most were not available. The loud coffee machine was right by our table and made conversation difficult .We were guests of friends otherwise I would have spoken to staff about these issues. Will I return....no, will I recommend.....no."

We popped in for Sunday Dinner and it was superb, the food was brilliant and the staff friendly. One of the best sunday lunches we have had! Staff couldn't do enough for you.

Excellent service and food. Greeted by a very cheerfull young person who showed us to our seats. The staff were attentive but not too attentive. The food was fantastic and we will certainly return soon.

We had a stunning meal here last week I had the lamb which was beautifully cooked. My son had the fillet steak which was incredibly tender and my husband had the halibut which tasted devine. I would highly recommend a visit here.

Afternoon tea package. Pleasant attentive staff. Outstanding fresh savouries including sandwiches home made scotch egg and sausage roll. Fresh warm scones with plenty of cream and jam. Desserts were french patisserie standard. No part that wasn’t delicious. By far the best afternoon tea we have had.

Wow! What an amazing visit at Wolfscastle for our birthdays, the best afternoon tea I have had in a while with the most delicious cakes and savouries. We could tell that everything was homemade and the attention to detail in each item was incredible. After getting married in wolfscastle hotel just over 10years ago the food just keeps getting better and better! Friendly, attentive service as you walk in from reception to the waitresses in the restaurant. Can’t wait to try the new afternoon tea in a few weeks!

I came back again for another delicious Afternoon Tea but this time with the rest of my family in tow. We were greeted with the same warm welcome and my three little girls felt like princesses from the moment they arrived. They were delighted with their yummy cakes including bunnies and popping candy! They especially loved the teddy bear sandwiches. They were absolutely blown away. It was a delicious treat for the whole family. I would highly recommend bringing younger fussy eaters they will not be disappointed!

We heard wonderful reviews from local people about the new head chef, Seb, at the Wolfscastle Hotel and we thought we’d try it out. We have eaten at this restaurant many times before and it has a good reputation not only for its great quality in food but also has a relaxed and welcoming, country hotel ambience. We ordered from their brasserie menu and the food was impeccable. We had a 3 course meal, including some delicious hors d’oeuvres. Each course was outstanding, beautifully prepared and presented and tasted wonderful. The staff were attentive and friendly. We will definitely return.

I attended this wonderful hotel with my wife, sister in law and brother in law for Christmas Day lunch. We live relatively local and have been here many times previously and it never disappoints. The welcome and highly professional staff are second to none. Andrew, Mandy and their staff are the best there is, and as a professional musician I travel widely and experience many hotels. The standard of cuisine is always exceptional with wonderful flavours and presentation. I cannot fault the experience at all and hats off to all at Wolfscastle country hotel. No doubt like everything in life there will be the negative people who will grumble and find fault, but let me say- these grumbling (if the...

Went for the christmas Dinner with colleagues, was bitterly disappointed . We were in with lots of other companies etc, meal was 2 hrs late , they were told 2 gluten free and put red cabbage containing viniger on my plate not gluten free . Was also given normal rolls not gf had to point it out to waiters. The lack of vegetables I dont call a sliver of parsnip and 2 of carrot and 4 green beans , 2 roast potatoes with 3 small slices of turkey a meal . My colleagues had a little more, a pig in blanket, some had a smear of mash or a small piece of stuffing . Was offered carrot and parsnip mash with pasta whatever that was ? No coffee and mints I recently went fine dining at an award winning rest...

"And lucky old us wow! This was a great surprise, we had no idea we were coming into something so unusual and so good. The garden space is very big and on the lawn, amongst the flowers, herbs and vegetable beds sit tables and chairs, mainly made of roughly hewn wood, plus tenty sheddy structures with heaters, teepee looking things and probably other structures I didn't take in.We were there when it was dark and there were strings of lights throughout the garden and it was all stunning and rather difficult to take in!The service was occasionally scatty but always well meaning and pleasant and mostly very professional and rightly proud of what they do, the place and the food they serve. The food! We were so thrilled with the food after some not very good experiences locally and, as others have said, we wished we'd found it earlier and been able to book another night.I had the pork belly which must have been cooking for hours, apart from the rind (not exactly crackling but still crispy and wonderful) I could cut the meat with my fork love to know how to achieve it. No taste had been lost in the cooking process and the fat was there but was kind of crumbly so it was gorgeous. And it came with great slices of home pickled carrot and fennel which was just delicious with a hint of sweetness and a hint of spice. And a puree which I believe was cauliflower. And don't forget the delicious little black pudding rissole that comes with it.As you can see, I could go on and on! My partner loved his succulent lamb, which was served with the same vegetables. Oh, and we had side dishes of seasonal greens and roasted beetroot and goats cheese these were also yummy and well flavoured, side dish didn't mean unimportant.Sadly, we didn't have dessert, what can I say, bet they're ace. This is far too long, do visit if you can it's a real treat with great cooking and lovely people."
