"below expectations The Bybrook at the Manor House is one of those destination restaurants that sound like a great idea for a luxurious, country weekend escape. The grand stone building sits in beautiful parkland and has all the wood panelling, fireplaces and elegant furnishings that you could ever desire. The only problem is, it’s restaurant serves a very ordinary menu, which doesn’t deliver the “unusual flavours and stunning presentation” that they would have you expect; a real shame. Getting off to an unassuring start, Chef Richard Davies presents “duck liver” au torchon, perhaps trying to trick diners who might be squeamish about eating foie gras, into doing just that. A bit odd that he isn’t more up-front with his guests. No matter, as the house-made foie gras is well prepared. It’s coated in a power of dark cocoa to add another dimension to the bistro classic, while an apricot purée provides the tangy sweet element to the dish. What is less convincing is addition of the crunchy"

We liked the Bybrook. It had a nice feel to it. And it fitted well in the hotel which is a centuries old house. So, there’s lots of dark wood; lots of stained glass windows. There’s also generously sized tables, with lots of space between... Visualizza piatti

I had booked a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and this was easily one of the best meals we have ever had. The tasting menu was truly delicious, made of some classic dishes and some others that we more creative like the burrata frozen...

Outstanding. We took my wife for Mother’s Day, the family of four loved every part of the experience. Wonderful engaging and tentative staff, a brilliant taster menu and very generous pairing wines in a beautiful restaurant. I can’t recommend it enough and we’ll certainly return. Visualizza piatti

The Manor House hotel restaurant is Michelin star restaurant serving excellent food in an unpretentious atmosphere. The food was artfully presented, but it was clear flavors were the priority. The seven course fixed price £145 pp) dinner did not seem like to much food and was worth the price. It was the best good we had in our fifteen day Cotswolds journey.

"The Sign of the Angel is a wonderful restaurant Hotel in Lacock. Service The service was amazing, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and made our meal so enjoyable as they were always there to serve us when needed. Food The menu was very well put together and something for everybody. We all ordered something different, I have to say all the food that arrived, was beautifully presented, and hard to pick, as we all had food, envy! Drinks There was a wide range of drinks on the menu for anybody wishing to have an alcoholic drink or something that is non alcoholic. We had a beautiful bottle of rosé wine that was from a local vineyard, it was lovely to see local businesses working together! Decor The decor of the restaurant and lounges is homely and inviting, suitable for a quick, get together, business meeting, birthday parties, or something a bit more formal. Prices Prices are very reasonable, especially when you take in consideration, the location and the service that we were lucky enough to receive. Lacock This small quaint village is the most beautiful destination to visit, it is somewhere that everybody should go to to see how beautiful are English country villages are, it is also very well located as it is so close to the city of Bath. I would highly recommend The Sign Of The Angel to anyone looking for a great meal with a venue and experience that you will not be disappointed with, I think next time we’ll end up staying in the hotel that is part of the restaurant and making an even longer trip out of it as we didn’t want to leave. Food drinks: The food was exquisite, with each dish presented like a work of art. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the textures were divine. The meal was truly a feast for the senses the wine from the local vineyard also helped add to the incredible flavours as well."

"A Lackluster Indian Takeaway Experience at Akash I feel compelled to share my experience with Akash Indian Takeaway, especially considering my wife's Indian background and our high hopes for a satisfying meal for her parents, who were visiting from Delhi. While we understood that we couldn't expect an authentic gourmet Indian feast in Wiltshire, we were still left disappointed by the overall lack of spice, flavour, and seasoning in the food. It seemed as if the restaurant missed the memo on the essence of Indian cuisine. We ordered a variety of dishes, hoping for an enjoyable culinary journey. However, each one fell short of expectations. The lack of understanding of spice and seasoning was evident in every bite. The food seemed uninspired and failed to capture the vibrant flavors that make Indian cuisine so beloved. It was disheartening to discover that even with our low expectations, Akash couldn't deliver a satisfying taste experience. To emphasise the disappointment, my father-in-law took matters into his own hands and cooked a curry at our AirBNB using the few scraps we had around the house and next to no spices. Surprisingly, his homemade creation surpassed the flavors and richness of the entire meal we ordered from Akash. I assure you, I'm not saying this just to earn brownie points—it genuinely highlights the stark contrast in taste and quality. To be fair, there were a couple of positives in this experience. The food arrived promptly, still hot, and the prices were relatively affordable. These factors, however, pale in comparison to the overall lack of flavour and authenticity that we had hoped for in an Indian takeaway. In conclusion, if you're seeking a lackluster Indian-inspired soup experience, Akash may meet your expectations. However, if you're in search of a truly flavorsome culinary adventure with the taste and texture that Indian cuisine is renowned for, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Akash left us wanting more, and we were ultimately left unsatisfied with the overall quality of the food. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 2 Service: 4"
