Very popular cafe- packed when we were there- and with good reason. Nicely situated in the old Jewish Quarter. Superb coffee and cakes- the cakes were as good as the ones my mother used to bake (that's very high praise). Friendly efficient service.Prices are reasonable.

Specifically visited for a Reuben Sandwich, ala USA. Being an American expat, I was surprised that corned beef was really pastrami. While the sandwich was good, it is not USA Reuben. The restaurant is cramped and very noisy. Not a room to accommodate children. However...the wait staff did what they could under the limitations

This is a very nice café with great, friendly atmosphere (and many faithful clients), in the heart of the old jewish district. Whether you want to have a nice breakfast, or a fine lunch with numerous jewish specialties, or an excellent coffee with some of...the best cakes in the city... This is where to go! Yes, Cafe Leonar is in a nice Hamburg neighbourhood and yes, this could be a great pit stop for breakfast the fresh croissants can be delicious, lunch or for a glass and a snack in the evening. But and here is the catch ...the service is just reliably unreliable and at times outright dysfunctional: Long waits, confusion over the most simple orders which either arrive late, in the wrong order or never weighs heavily on the experience. What a shame

I have been in the leonar for many years, actually since the beginning. Unfortunately, for some time the quality has been quite low. starting with the service, which is partly good and cowardly, but often also not, young men who lack every sense for the guests are used in the service. you have to try to order something, it stands useless on the tables that are not always cleared, instead you can see the services entertaining, the level of the service is like in a scene pub.The eating is very different, sometimes it tastes good or a bit good, often the eating is hardly spiced and flawless; there is apparently someone who lacks it.

we were there for lunch and ordered boroch, humus, Israeli salat and pita with falaffel. we drank hot lemon and sprinkled bollard: the ordered bortsch was simply red beetroot in strips and cut into slices and filled with vegetable broth, with a clecks sour cream and baguette. it was tasted after all. when the rest came we were surprised that the pita with falaffel was also a humus and the Israeli salate. here we would have really wanted the service at the order to point out that we had the salat 2 times and the humus 2 times, where we wanted to try. would have been half as bad if it had not been a senior home tastefully.. no garlic in the humus, no wobble in the falaffeln. about simply every...
