Die Kantina - Menu

Had an early dinner here on our stopover on our route to Italy. Serves great food and friendly staff. Terrace is nice. The Flamkuchen are great and so is the beer selection .

It was a quick dinner on a business trip but a very tasty one and very very rich. The pork schnitzel was that big that it didn’t fit on the plate very nice staff speaking English

Friendly staff and adequate food. The area is a bit industrial but this place has a nice terrace. It lacks a bit of shade and a lot of wasps. Still a good option near the hotel strip.

Waiters that speak broken English at best. Asked for veal (as written on the one and only English menu) got pork. Asked salad with only olive oil, got vinaigrette. Poor quality of food. Won't ever go back there. Just terrible.

After some months we visited again and still can recommend! Nice atmosphere outside (beergarden) and inside (former station) by now one of the last old places in this newly erected city quarter... Recommended for family and friends, also bigger groups. This time I had...„Ochsenbäckle“ (stewed beef cheek) very tender and yummy!

Amazing food, fantastic atmosphere and super friendly staff!!! Such a nice place. Really cool Interior with lot of art and photos in an old building but modern style. Food is fantastic. Really nice flavour, all super fresh and nice creations. ‘Flammkuchen’ are really nice. Crisp...and very tasty. Also quite a few vegan options. The beer garden is nice in summer. Definitely coming back!

Die Kantina is located on part of the old railway goods yards and I couldn’t resist the urge for puns. Although it was a busy night, the staff managed to stay on track. A large party turned up without a reservation. I’m sure they had...a loco-motive for not calling ahead. The staff quickly had them re-train-ed. Our beers arrived and we were soon happy chugging them. Seriously though, although it’s the only pub for miles it has a comprehensive regional menu, excellent food, very large portions, great staff. Strongly recommend Die Kantina.

One needs to wonder – why is this restaurant always full? Does not matter, lunch meetings or dinner – always buzzing!! You need to forgive the waiters, for confusing the orders, or not getting it right but even if it happens, you will get your...food swiftly with apologies. It offers intriguing dishes in the Wochenkarte and seasonal dishes. I struggled to make a choice. This has sparked conversation at the table – what is elby? Is the ‘green stuff’ in the home made lemonade mint or sage? Does not matter – it was delicious. I need to agree – die Kantina delivers.

On our journey to the UK stopped in Freiburg and visited The Kantina lively and busy local restaurant . Staff were friendly, engaging and showed a genuine interest in the customers attentive and willing to help spoke German and English. Great salad to start with...followed by schnitzel and chips . Large portion of food also specials on the blackboard that looked inviting from the food that past to other customers . Maurice the manager spoke to us personally nice to have the interaction explaining some of the specials of the day which we will try in the future. Of course good German beer . Will definitely revisit on our next travel through Germany
