"My partner and I had an opportunity to try the unique Gareth Daw Collection 10 course testing menu. The whole experience started with homemade pineapple and raspberry ciders, followed by berbere bread with creamy lemon butter. Next, one of our favourites crocodile (yes, crocodile! with yummy bacon maple jam perfectly complementing the exotic protein. Just when we thought this could not get any better here comes the Head Chef carrying the plates filled with wild mushrooms sprinkled with popping candy which started popping once the dish was poured over with rich earl grey mushroom sauce wow, that was something new! After this we got presented with one of the menu's stand out dish the famous pork belly soaking in coconut sauce and topped with passion fruit caviar! That's definitely one of must try when visiting the restaurant! Dish no 6, cod in tomato and sea herbs. My partner is not a big fan of sea food but Chef Gareth's fish was clearly of very high quality and addition of sea herbs brought it to a whole new level. Next comes lamb breast with oxtail. Personally, I was not sure what to expect as lamb is not my favourite one nor is oxtail BUT...need to admit that it was expertly prepared dish, packed with massive range of powerful flavours, beautiful tender meat, simply perfect. Now moving onto dessert part of the menu, first we were served with delicious banana sorbet sprinkled with dried raspberries. After that we had a three layered chocolate cake with coffee and orange flavours. Stunning presentation of both dessert with fresh fruits and lovely garnish flowers. Last dish of our testing experience was petit four, cute pink macaroons and amazing sweet potato brownies. We absolutely loved the whole testing menu and hope we could try one again soon. The food was fresh and high quality. We appreciated the beautiful presentation and variety of flavours. The waiting staff was also second to none, very friendly and attentive. We highly recommend the place. It is truly a hidden gem!"

Lovely helpful staff , especially Linda and Tina ! Unfortunately on the second day of our stay there was a problem with breakfast which meant we couldn't eat in the adjoining restaurant . We were refunded straight away and pointed in the right direction for breakfast . Room lovely and comfy our second stay here .for us .

I attended the taster evening last night and thoroughly enjoyed, myself and my husband had the standard menu which was both beautifully presented and full of flavour. My daughter had the vegan taster menu and was truly blown away by the high standard of ingredients used to make such flavoursome food. The chef here has such great imagination and flavour combinations. Highly recommend , we will be back .

Although the room is a little small, it is clean and functional. the bed sheets are comfortable and the beefeater over the street has limited but decent vegan veggie options. negatiw: although it advertises free wifi, it is practically not available. we were on our dates all the time. the walls are also paper thin. we could hear everything next door. the situation has worked for us, but it is good to note that: we went and took the

It's another Purple Travelodge masquerading as a Premier Inn if you ask me. the Bedroom is no bigger than my own back home, but the wi-fi is non existent. The bathroom has No Bath and a weird corner toilet, as all the space is taken up with the shower. It's an ensuite with nowhere to put anything. The walls are paper-thin too. Those are the bad points. Good points are it's clean, feels new not shabby, the bed and linen are top quality and the location is fairly quiet and easy to get to, maybe not so easy to find in the dark as it's Superdark round there as your technically in Newport countryside.
