"We had no booking, but we were shown to a quiet table in this very nice restaurant by the old 'fireplace ' or 'oven '? The staff we 're very nice and most helpful, especially as our French is so poor, but we managed to order a beef dish and a chicken dish, both with potato, and both meals we most delicious, very hot and freshly cooked. Our choice of wine likewise. We finished with a coffee and a nightcap of a delicious Port. On asking if they would phone us a taxi back to our hotel, we were told that there are no taxis working at this time of the evening, just after 2200 hours, but not to worry, one of the staff would get his car and run us back. What a very nice gesture, and he wouldn 't take anything from us, what a nice gent. I just wish that we were not just passing thru the town of Alencon or we would most certainly been back to this wonderful restaurant."
