"I recently stayed at The Lodge, which is part of The Olive Bar and Grill, for a couple of nights. The room was a bit worn out, but very clean and comfortable. On Wednesday evening, I decided to have dinner at the restaurant and was impressed by the delicious chicken cooked in rosemary and garlic at half price! The next night was steak night, where they served steak on a 440° volcanic rock. It was a unique and enjoyable experience, with the option to slice or dice the steak and cook it to your liking on the hot rock. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home even though I was dining alone. Thank you for the fantastic experience!"

After a bad experience at The Glasshouse down the road. The Olive did not dissapoint. Great food, Great service. And to top it off, Monday to Wednesday, after 5.00 pm there is 50% off food

Haven't been there for some time, but found the quality of the food to be still first class. Karen our waitress couldn't have been more helpful. We had a lovely chat with her at the end of the meal. Will be back next time we're in Doncaster.

Came her for food at tea time and was not Disappointed at all. Great food with amazing service this place never disappoints and they have some amazing offerings at the moment in this hard times of cost of living crisis it’s worth coming out out

It’s beginning to be a regular place for me and my partner now, food is always nice and the service is always very very good. Great friendly staff with a menu that isn’t too pricy, atmosphere is good and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to dine

Just been here for a lunch with our child, the place is tastefully decorated and clean and the food was beautiful compliments to the chef) my son had burger I had a Sunday lunch and my husband had crocodile! However the lunch was totally ruined by a young waitress who came out of the kitchen swearing

Booked for Sunday lunch before we travelled back to Kent, Karen was our waitress and she was amazing, very welcoming, warm and catered to our every need, the roast was bang on, huge Yorkshire Puddings, and offered extra veg, tatties gravy at no extra cost. I would definitely recommend The Olive and would go back in a heartbeat

We were really excited about going to the Olive Restaurant and loved the décor and the ambience, also the staff were lovely. We ordered a Sunday lunch and were astonished when the meal was served to the table, as the slices of beef were quite thick. Unfortunately the meat and vegetables were tough. Nice to see the place but won't be going back for food again.

The food at this restaurant was absolutely delightful! Not to mention, it was 50% off which was just fantastic! My family had a great time and even my little baby couldn't get enough of the waitress, who was incredibly attentive and engaging with her. It truly made for a wonderful birthday meal experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and welcoming.

Terrible! After reading the reviews on this website, we decided to have dinner at this restaurant. The staff seemed distracted even though it wasn't busy. We practically had to seat ourselves and then had to place our order at the bar. The fish and chips were subpar, with frozen fries and fish that wasn't freshly battered - it seemed like it went straight from the freezer to the deep fryer. Before leaving, we had to go back to the bar to pay. Overall, the customer service was terrible and I would not recommend this place.

"The welcome we received was pleasant, although not very personal, and our details were not checked, which was surprising considering how difficult it was to secure a reservation. The restaurant is not licensed, so guests are welcome to bring their own drinks. My husband and I brought two bottles of champagne, but we were not offered an ice bucket and were given standard wine glasses instead of flutes. The food was served promptly, starting with an amuse bouche of butternut squash veloute with a creamy accompaniment served in egg boxes. The chef explained the dish himself, and it was delicious. The second course, an aged rice dish reminiscent of a soupy risotto flavored with parmesan and espresso, was my least favorite. I found it poorly presented and the coffee flavor didn't come through well. The third course, a beautifully cooked lamb cutlet finished on a barbecue outside, was accompanied by flavorful lentils. However, the broccoli that came with it was plain and could have used some additional flavor. The dish was not explained to us. The fourth dish, which I initially thought was eel, turned out to be smoked eel and was served with beetroot. This was one of my favorite dishes of the night. We were served two desserts: a warm chocolate foam with orange sorbet and a deconstructed rhubarb custard with pink meringue pieces, both of which were delicious. The bill was not presented to us, so we followed the lead of other guests who left cash on the table as they left. My husband had a nice chat with the chef, and I joined in after a visit to the restroom. The chef was very knowledgeable and skilled with flavors. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of personality in presenting and explaining each dish. The experience felt somewhat impersonal and lacked interest. I believe guest interaction is crucial, so my tip would be for the restaurant to take the time to engage with guests, even if it means spending less time in the kitchen. I did not give a perfect score due to the presentation and slightly underwhelming flavors in some dishes. I believe that in fine dining, every element of the dish should be bursting with flavor. Despite this, we had an enjoyable evening and would return if we are able to secure a reservation."
