"We had booked a dog friendly table inside but the wonderful staff accommodated us eating outside. The manager went out of his way to let us eat outside which we really appreciated. Daisy, who waited on us, is a credit to the company. She always remembers us and our dogs, always stops to chat and nothing is too much trouble. Even the chef exceeded our expectations not only was our food really delicious but we had asked for sausages for our dogs birthday and he went above and beyond to provide a huge plate of tasty sausages for them. We all had the best Easter Sunday meal."

A hidden gem! The staff is friendly, the food is fantastic (especially the pizza) and priced reasonably. The rooms offer stunning views and are clean, comfortable, and very welcoming. I would definitely recommend it, even during a rainy week in January!

Fab 1 night stay at the Penhelig Arms on a Travel Zoo deal. Our first visit but definitely not the last. Friendly staff who made us feel very welcome, lovely room no.3) with superb views of the Estuary and hills as a backdrop. Excellent evening meal and breakfast and a great choice of menu. Most highly recommended!!

We stayed for just one night as part of a Travel Zoo break in a nicer room, and it was excellent! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we want to thank them for making our stay so enjoyable. The food was outstanding, and the selection was so varied that it was tough to decide what to order! The cozy bar offered a great selection of beers as well. We can’t say enough about our experience during this second stay, and we will definitely be back!

"Meals were great quality and plate filling. My gammon was amazing as were the pies and the scampi which the others had. The menu had a great range of meals and at very reasonable prices. The place was really busy. We were lucky to get a table and we were informed on ordering about the delay, which wasn't a problem, but was appreciated. The Dovey has a great range of drinks especially gins but also beers the Reverend James was my favourite. The manager certainly knows how to look after his cask ales. The manager Dave, I think, was rushed off his feet but always cheery and had time to speak to everyone and check on diners. Indeed, all of the staff were courteous and helpful. There was a good mix of visitors and locals in there. They obviously get a lot of local custom which is always a good recommendation! My only gripe was that they could have done with a few more staff, particularly on the bar, as we did have to wait a while to get served on occasions or maybe we were just drinking too fast! It was the height of the summer season so probably at their busiest. Incidentally, our visit was in August, not in September as assumed by the owners of another pub in the same village at which we had a less enjoyable evening the night before and wrote a less glamorous review for. In hindsight, I should have written these nearer to the time but just didn't get round to it. It wouldn't have changed either experience though. Definitely the Dovey again next time."
