"The Dolce Vita deserves special mention here in the pages of Trip Advisor, on account of it single handedly re calibrating my sense of of what constitutes good and bad service in a decade of regular visits to France. La Dolce Vita in Menton struck a new low, that I have every reason to believe will be hard to match.French waiters are of course known worldwide for being a surly and recalcitrant lot, especially where foreign tourists are concerned. For the most part they are undeserving of such a reputation, and are in fact friendly and helpful. Bearing this in mind though, I am always cordial, polite, and will always attempt in my most pigeon like French to ask for a table and make my order. Today's visit though, barely even got that far. When I asked for a table to two, I was begrudgingly waved in the direction of a half dozen tables. I duly took a seat with my wife, per used the menu, and was then studiously ignored for the next 20 minutes. The staff, of which there must have been almost a dozen on duty, all very deliberately avoided making any eye contact whatsoever. After 20 minutes of being ignored, I left. I haven't experienced behaviour this childish since I was in primary school, and yet here it was in a supposedly "nice" restaurant on the beach on the French Riviera. To say I was angry would be an understatement. To avoid this kind of "service" for yourself, go absolutely anywhere else in the entire nation of France, and you will easily exceed the levels of friendliness shown at Le Dolce Vita..."

Ideally located close to the beach, offering great food and friendly staff. Would definitely visit again the next time I'm in Menton.

Superb service at this friendly restaurant in beautiful Menton. At the end of a long row of restaurants , fabulous lasagne and sole meunière , highly recommend and reasonable prices . Visualizza piatti

The service here was terrible. We ate lunchtime and after getting drinks and a menu, we then had to wait 30 minutes to order the food. Several tables had been served despite coming in after we had arrived. We nearly left but were told our food was only a few minutes away. When it ariived it was bland (pasta and moules frites) and only warm. We left most of the food and went as soon as possible.

Today we have been at Dolce Vita for the 500th time or was it the 1000th time?We come here since 1979.This restaurant is not a star- but a beach restaurant with a great ambiance and good italian food and wines at a reasonable price. Very friendly service and the best beach of Menton. Kind for children. If crowded on Sunday and ordering takes some time, simply lift your finger and they will help you with a smile. We really hope to come here many more times in the years to come.Grazie mille Claudio, Laura, Adolfo, Anna, Dani, Mattheo, Daniel, ect.

Our apartment was across the road so we came here a few days to the beach beds . Lovely beds and the palm trees provided even more shade . Dreadful service though . I went to the bar ( as no staff on beach) and ordered 2 gin and tonics . Went back after 30 minutes and the waitress looked away - I mean physically blanked me !!! I asked about the gin snd she did not reply . Unbelievable !! Some one else came along luckily who went to get me the gins , but they only had enough gin for 1. Losing the will to live at this stage . When we went back the next day , they still had no gin. What sort of a bar doesn't have gin or replace it when they run out?? It's such a pity as it's definitely a good l... Visualizza piatti

Restaurant: What started off well ended in a nightmare. I wished we could have lodged a complaint against the owner he is agressiv and rude. We ordered a dish, it was served differently to what was described on the menu, so we sent it back. The waiter got into a flurry at this point yet we managed to order another dish, and it was still different from what was written on the menu. The owner appeared at our table when we were about to pay, he was off-limits from the start, firing away about our behavior with the food and how dare we not be satisfied. We tried to explain to him that we were only asking for what was written on the menu, he treated us of racists. To top it all he claimed we were...

I came here with my girlfriend, brother in law, my sister and there three month old son. Although we made a reservation none of the personel could find us a good table in first instance. We ordered a salad caprese and a pizza as an entree and the main course was lasagne, a salmon dish and the risotto. First up the risotto was hard, the lasagna tasted strange and the salmon sticked to its plate. We had this problem with both salmon dishes (we ordered that twice). The music was very loud so we had to ask if the volume could be downgraded a little. After half an hour the music was again too loud. The service was very arrogant and we got some pretty awfull 'looks'. After complaining bout the mus...

"So I'm not a restaurant contributor although I'm a big fan of the good food and the pleasure of a good meal. I booked this restaurant because it's number 4 in the world's top 50. As you can imagine, I had great expectations. From the very beginning, the restaurant has not enough parking space compared to the number of tables so it was a break to park my car. No valet service either. the dining room has a beautiful view of chin but a very simple decoration and the chairs at the beginning were good but at the end of the meal I had a huge buttache, literally. the chef offers 3 types of menus. the smallest has 6 courses and starts at 110€. at the bottom of each menu, the chef offers the wines to drink with. I chose the smallest (110€) and the employee asked me if I wanted to follow the wine suggestion. I agreed, so it went with the meal. First of all, food wasn't that good. Very simple. Nothing we can expect from a 2 star restaurant michelin! the wines I knew are medium in any supermarket. The service was good but for twice they missed the silverware. At the end of the meal, one of the employees asked me if I wanted to try cheese before dessert. it is not included in the menu price, but no prices were said and nowhere you could read it. We ate a great small portion of cheese. two small pieces of cheese that a 4-year-old could eat in a minute to new york. Here's the check. 500€!!! cheese cost for two, 38€, the wine I hoped to be the wine suggested in my menu of 110€ and which had the price of 45€ was billed and served the wine of the most expensive menu (210€) to 90€ per person. Nobody asked us if we really wanted the most expensive wine list. It was really a disappointment. a waste of time and money because it was not a meal to remember even taken the price factor!"

"When in a tourist town, one always becomes suspicious of the quality of their restaurants! Da Mitchou is situated between the road and the beach, and it really is a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy the view! As usual we went out for dinner with a list of restaurant names with a good score from Tripadvisor. Some were empty, some closed, but Da Mitchoulooked very inviting. We were early for dinner, so asked if we could come in for a pre dinner drink. We were seated at the very last table available out on almost the side of the restaurant in front of the showers. We ordered our delicious favourite french drink, a Pastis on ice. They also brought us some complimentary pizza bread which was yummy. When we asked if we cluld atay for dinner, we were told we could stay at our 'bar' table, as the restaurant was full. In the meantime we had struck a conversation with Chris, one of their waiters whom had spent some time in Australia, and we started having fun with his memories! His English was perfect, and we were made to feel very welcome. We weren't terribly hungry, being on the road for ten weeks, constricts your eating habits somewhat, unless you wish to grow more than your clothes allow! So we both lrdered a salad with a serve of fries on the side, a glass of Cote du Rhône, and we were extremely happy! Chris continued to entertain us throughout our dinner, and we left feeling very content."

"the location was attractive. a small picturesque square slightly in draw with a foliage and Mediterranean charm. the restaurant had an outdoor terrace but we decided to eat inside. rustic decoration well maintained. abundance of natural stones and plaster walls of rustic color, nice vaulted type ceiling and terracotta tile floor. We loved him. the kitchen was visible on the path of the toilet and everything seemed chief, busy and good omen. Unfortunately, it's the end of the good news. My wife chose to start with the anchovies leaf and I am the raw ham. The anchovie was not good. Very strange flavor. Too salty. hard dough background. My ham was cut too thick, making the meal difficult. I had to ask for olive oil and gem salt. certainly not the best ham I've had. no comparison with parma or iberico. disappointing. the main dishes were the fish pot and the spaghetti with ceps. Both were a disaster. The fish were cut off. filled with small but important bones. the two rather sad gambas were small and boiled to death. the portion of fish and the quality at the price were bad. Maybe the bisque was swept. The pasta was not good and we left them. we paid 72 euros for this and a very small glass of medium wine and a bottle of flat water. I think chin food is usually not good. French are rather complacent and seem to believe that their historical reputation is enough. Not if. the area is very frequented by tourists and I guess most are unlikely to return to the area, so they think they can get away with it. It's a shame and I couldn't recommend this restaurant. we visit the family regularly to chin, so we would like to find a decent restaurant at a reasonable price. even our family seems to have a bad time. Why? It's the france."
