"Ratskeller offers the customer a true taste of traditional german cuisine with a good selection of wines and a vintage fashioned service...absolutely perfect. Quality of food is at top level in the area and this is teh reason why prices are a little bit overrated comparing to the average, but the experience id worth a dinner.The atmosphere itself is warm and romantic due to the old building in which the restaurant is located. From this point of wiew Ratskeller is in the very centre of small and cool Kalkar village in the beautiful Markt Platz. Talking about the food, I would suggest a taste of traditional shnitzel with a good bretzel and a weissbeer...i think this is Germany on your table...But anyway they are even good at cooking lasagna (I can say that as I'm italian... and the soups are delicious. So, buon appetito!"

Kuscheliges Gewölbekeller-Ambiente . Traditionell sehr gutes Essen. Sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Gerne immer wieder.

Am Marktplatz in Kalkar gelegen, speist man im historischen Kellergewölbe des Rathauses. Das Essen war sehr lecker und besonders die Dessertvariation ist zu empfehlen.

The Ratskeller in Kalkar is a restaurant with a excellent choice of wines and freshly prepared food on the menu. The prices are slightly higher than the average price rate in the area but the quality of the products and the service are worth it. Seasonal and local food is served frequently and it is also worthwhile to test the dishes of the day, which are usually announced on blackboards all around the entrance of the restaurant. They also serve excellent steak and lamb. We have been several times to the Ratskeller and never were really disappointed even though some times minor things with the food were slightly different in comparison to the last visit.
