"We have just enjoyed an amazing family birthday lunch. Our family of 12 ranging in age from 9 to 85 each confirmed that it was incredible on several counts : the menu covered all tastes and requests coeliac and vegan included : the welcome and service were cheerful, friendly and as quick as could be expected, covering 11 different orders one was for an impressive sharing platter .There were no complaints from anyone, which I consider to be excellent. No pretentions, just a comfortable, warm atmosphere which serves beautiful meals and at fare prices. The drinks order should be praised too, very varied items , but served efficiently and correctly. Well done Brew Shed."

"No.5 appears to be in a state of transition of owners and it shows. We have never had a disappointing meal here until this last one. I have always had a little whinge that the menu hardly ever changes so despite previously loving the food when you have been a few times it becomes a bit samey . Recently went to the under new management White Houses and they have a fixed menu but lots of specials to add variety. Definitely top notch competition locally to No. 5 Service was initially very attentive but ended up as none existent. If I had been on my own, and not with a party, I would have abandoned the sweets the time we had to wait. Our server was young and clearly new and didn 't seem to have a clue when asked questions. Starters were generally very good apart from being a bit surprised when most of the party got a slice of brown bread that appeared to come straight out of a standard sliced loaf. What happened to the tub of warm rustic quality bread? Definitely lacked class. Mains were generally well presented and OK. I chose Beef Stroganoff again due to the limited menu, on a previous visit I had this and frankly it was the best I have ever tasted. Not so this time. Difficult to spot my strips of fillet steak , It seemed to be all mushroom with what steak I tasted being grisly and the sauce was just not right. The sweet menu selection was very limited and again unchanged. The jewel previously was the assiette of sweets which has now gone. Time has come to move on unless they re-vamp the menu and bring things back up to the standard of the old No. 5."

"Five of us dined out for the evening, and we were all extremely pleased! I had the prawn gambas and the rump steak (which was a gluten-free option). The steak was cooked to perfection, just as I requested, and everything else was delicious. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive. It was truly a wonderful experience—thank you!"

"The food is excellent and the staff are amazing. I've had instances where they have struggled a bit on takeaway delivery when they are too busy but the staff do make you feel genuinely welcome. Dining in is great currently 2 for 1 on a Monday (though be mindful it's cash only and the nearest cash machine is the Santander a couple of minutes walk away in Market Square) and takeaway is good with online ordering and an app available. Great place to eat. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"Rang to place order very polite young man answered the phone and took my order . Ive been going there for years and placed my usual order of chicken tikka kari along with a chicken makani . I Got home and the kari was not...tikka ‘d . I rang to tell them , the other member of staff said they’d check with the chef n ring back which she did but said it’s not something that is actually on the menu and blamed it on the new lad . She then said the chef thought it was a mistake so did just a kari , but next time they’d be happy to make sure it’s tikka’d . To be fair the new member of staff wrote it down correct but the chef decided it was a mistake . It was also very oily a lot more oil than normal . Also the makani had really tough bits of chicken in that we couldn’t eat . Overall really disappointed and sadly after many years will not be returning . I suppose an offer of providing me with the correct curry this evening would of convinced me that they’d at least tried to rectify their mistake however the standard and portion size was not up to the standard I’ve got used to . She did apologise however I still feel massively let down . On the plus side my keema rice and meat samosa was nice ."
