"Lovely old village pub in Detling, near Maidstone. Friendly, welcoming bar staff. Good selection of beers, wine and spirits. Very good menu at very reasonable prices. I had chicken pie which was delicious and my wife had fish and chips. The fish was battered fresh haddock and was so big that she could eat many of the chips. The service was good, and the food was standard pub fare—it was decent. Unfortunately, the pub was quite empty, but it was fireworks night, so that’s understandable. Ratings: Food: 4, Service: 5, Atmosphere: 4.

We went last night with our two dogs and had a wonderful time. I was very impressed with the Flint Eye lager. Our food was great and we didn’t have to wait long.
