"I recently visited here during a weekend break in Kirkby Lonsdale and I was left extremely disappointed. I tried to book a table for around 8.30 9.00 but was told I could only have a table at 8.00. When I arrived I was asked to sit in the bar until my table was ready which was fairly quick as I was 5/10 mins early. I found the menu to be slightly disappointing and not very Italian inspired despite the name. My order was taken and my starter didn't arrive until around 8.45 which annoyed me slightly as I wanted to book a table later and wasn't able to. (By now the restaurant was almost empty). The garlic bread was lovely but the garlic mushrooms was smothered in pesto ??? The main courses were a complete disappointment once again the chicken pasta was smothered in pesto, probably to hide the fact that it was tasteless and only two pieces of chicken in the whole dish. The carbonara was all curdled. Rather than a smooth sauce it was all lumpy and separated. No black pepper or Parmesan offered. The portion sizes were decent and the fries were lovely. When letting the staff know how disappointed I was with the meal I didn't receive so much as an apology and they quickly asked us for the money and we left. I would definitely not visit here again. Apart from the appalling food I found that I wasn't treated how all the other customers in the restaurant were. This was my wedding anniversary treat and it was far from it!!!"

Priced at the top end for an Italian yet my carbonara tasted like it was from a jar. There was so much cream you could of called it a soup. Would not recommend.

Stopped here for a pit stop one afternoon with my other half. I had cream tea and hot chocolate both of which were lovely. My other half had a beer and piece of cake. He said it was very nice The offer on the cream tea was very reasonable. Sitting out in the court yard of was a lovely place and nice atmosphere Staff were friendly and helpful

Stumbled on this place as it is set back a little from the main road. We decided to try it as it had outside seating and we wanted to enjoy the sun. We didn't want a full meal and just opted for a garlic mushroom and bruschetta starter. Omg stunning. Flavours were amazing. We weren't rushed or hurried to finish but even though we were busy we were left to just sit and relax. The courtyard seating accepted dogs and had water bowls available. We saw the other meals coming out and they were of a good size and looked and smelled delicious. We would certainly return .

We found this little place today on our way back from the Lake district. We were greeted at the door by a lovely young man who quickly seated us. As it was 16.45 we were offered both the lunch time and evening menu to choose from (it goes to evening at 5pm) I had the steak ciabbata it was absolutely delicious steak a perfect medium as asked for. My partner had the ultimate meat feast pizza he said it's the best freshly prepared pizza he has had in a long time. The service and food was both fantastic and great value for money we don't live local but it will be worth the hour drive to come for another visit.

We have visited the Italian garden a few times now and have never been disappointed. Living reasonably near to Kirkby Lonsdale, we have tried most of the eateries in town and both me and my wife agree that this is the friendliest and most welcoming of the lot. We have a toddler and a newborn and the staff have always gone out of their way to make us comfortable, nothing is too much hassle. The food is great too. In particular my wife had a fish dish which she said was brilliant. On a nice evening they have a lovely, quiet courtyard setting which is a bonus. Visited for lunch once too and had a great sandwich. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks.

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
