"we were too early in herne bay for the movie we visited. so there is a cloudy Thursday evening in herne bay to fill the time. the answer was not much. then the weeping came in. we went to the cellar where he was. the decoration reminded me of my student days in the 1970s. Mis-matched chairs and tables placed tightly under a low deck. it was quite busy looking so promising for a weekday. we were greeted with a cheerful greeting and ordered two glasses by shiraz. the wine was good price and good quality. sitting on a table for two I saw on the food that is served. it looked delicious and made me wish we hadn't already eaten. the weeping and the conversation flew so well that we missed the movie almost!"

"The Wallflower Cafe is Herne Bay’s little secret. You probably wouldn’t stumble across it because it’s tucked away, but if you are visiting the town then you should seek it out. They have a great variety of vegan dishes, so many it’s hard to chose what to have. Lin and I both choose the homemade burger and chips. Chunky chips with their skin on and a burger with flavours of onion bhajis what could be better? It’s very popular and has limited seating so you may have to wait to get a table, but I guarantee that the wait will be worth it. We visited several years ago before they became fully vegan, but now it’s going to be a regular stop because there’s a lot of dishes on the menu to get through. The service was friendly and faultless and all the hot food is cooked from scratch , no zapping in a microwave."

"A lovely first visit here with my sisters in a relaxed atmosphere in the courtyard garden. We enjoyed a cup of tea made the traditional way using loose leaf tea, teapot and tea strainer. A variety of teas on offer. We also tucked into a ploughman's lunch and home made sausage roll. All very delicious. We will definitely return."

"First time visit on Sunday 10/09/23 very impressed with the Sunday roast I had roast lamb and the cauliflower cheese on the side, vegetables were perfectly cooked and my garlic mushrooms starter was tasty too. Dessert was nice but my only little criticism would be the crumble was not like a traditional crumble as the crumble was literally just pale crumble so not baked or browned at all on the top never had crumble like that before, but the fruit tasted nice all the same and the custard was lovely. The drinks were cold and fresh. Staff were friendly and attentive. Glad I finally came in after passing on many occasions will return again soon to try other food on your menu and for more drinks."

The sweet and sour chicken in my partner's dish was delicious, but the stir-fry vegetables were undercooked and the rice was too peppery. The aromatic duck was tasty, but could have used more accompaniments like pancakes, sauce, cucumber, and spring onions. The warm beers were a disappointment for the beer drinkers in our group, especially as some beers are best served cold. Overall, our experience was a mixed bag. We may opt for local takeout options in the future instead. The service was lacking, with young staff members who seemed uninformed about the menu and drink offerings, leading us to question if the usual managers were absent. Unfortunately, the service was slow, unprofessional, and somewhat lazy, with a lack of attention to detail. It's worth noting that the gluten-free sweet and sour chicken may not be truly gluten-free, as it appears to be battered in regular batter. When we asked the waitress about this, she was unable to provide any clarification."
