"Wonderful, helpful staff excellent service from booking until we left after celebrating a 40th birthday. Luke was so helpful when I rang to book easy to talk to. On arrival today all the staff were kind, caring, considerate and were incredibly helpful. The carvery was tasty with an excellent choice of vegetables fab Yorkshire puddings. The 4 children in our group aged 2-10, all enjoyed their carvery and the ice- cream dessert that came with a chocolate flake marshmallows. Thank you to all the staff at ‘front of house’ ‘behind the scenes’ for making today a very special 40th family celebration! We will definitely be returning, not just as a family, but as a couple because we were so impressed with the overall service quality of food."

"I just have to say the staff owner of the pub treat the traders on the market so well! Most other pubs require us to buy a drink to use the toilet every single time which becomes pricey, the cross keys is the only pub that kinda just lets us run in as and when we need and of course in return we buy a coffee or two to say thanks. Even if we didn’t buy drinks they wouldn’t deny traders using their toilet and it makes all the difference to us. Simple nice gestures like that go along way! Selfless and pleasant staff"

"I stumbled upon this restaurant and what a gem it turned out to be! We were looking for a nice spot for lunch and hit the jackpot here. Although the selection was a bit boring, the food we ordered was excellent. The ploughman's lunch was beautifully plated and the cheesecake was absolutely delicious. It was a pleasant change to enjoy the sunny weather while sitting in their charming beer garden. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area."

"Called in for lunch after visiting the Abbey, so glad we did. Lovely place , clean with very friendly staff and lovely tempting displays of cakes and other goodies. We decided to have lunch, my partner chose the coronation chicken on brown (his favourite sandwich filling) he declared it the best he’d every had and waxed lyrical about how good the bread was as well. I opted for the home made ham and cheese quiche which was absolutely delicious, both plates beautifully presented with different salads on the side. Portion sizes were good and with tea for two proved a lovely lunch, unfortunately we’d no room for cakes sadly. Unfortunately we were only in Sherborne for the day but if we ever find ourselves there again we will definitely revisit, unfortunately I didn’t think to take photos until the plates were empty! They do what they do very well and with a smile, a little gem."

"Oh dear, what ever has happened to this wonderful ancient pub? It used to be so good and difficult to get a seat, even on off days. The staff are friendly but the food was awful. I should have been suspicious when the menu looked unchanged (it used to be seasonal) and we were the only couple there. No specials on offer either. The food (lunchtime) had obviously been reheated and was woefully tasteless. Come on Rose and Crown you can do better than this, don't let this once wonderful pub go the way of so many others."
