"This is intended as a neutral, purely factual review. Good points the one meal we had during our 2 day stay was excellent and the room was basic but comfortable. Bad points closed for meals on Sunday evening even for residents, closed all day Wednesday and no cooked breakfast until 10am on any day. We were on a boating trip on the Oxford Canal, needing a room and meals on the Sunday and Tuesday evenings in that location, where there’s nowhere else to stay. Some things had gone wrong during our stay and we appreciated being offered in compensation wine and desserts free of charge with our evening meal on the Tuesday. However, we had to spend £37 in taxi fares to find a Sunday evening meal in Deddington, only 2 miles away and we were unable to have cooked breakfasts during our stays, as we had to depart before 10am on the Monday morning and the hotel was completely closed on the Wednesday morning. For us, cooked breakfasts are a big part of the pleasure of staying away, as we never have them at home. Overall we found this hotel unsatisfactory and we would not recommend it as somewhere to stay. "This is a charming and welcoming local spot where both the staff and customers make you feel at home—though perhaps my dog played a role in that! The themed cuisine nights are a major attraction, featuring all-you-can-eat buffets with options like Chinese, Indian, Thai, and more. If you're in the mood for something different, there's also a selection of takeaway pizzas. For those who prefer classic dishes, you can't go wrong with the traditional fish and chips. I highly recommend it! Price per person: £10–20."

"Upon entering, the ambiance was delightful, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. However, I found the prices for the food portions to be quite absurd. I ordered the special, which was described as Japanese chicken for £10, assuming it would come with chips or rice. Instead, I received just seven small pieces of breaded chicken that resembled nuggets, with no sides at all. For my mother, I ordered steak frites, which consisted of a very small piece of steak and a meager serving of fries. The dough balls we had as a starter were dry and also very small in portion. My grandmother ordered pie and mash, which she enjoyed. In the end, the total for all of this, plus a cup of tea for each of us, came to £57. I am truly disappointed, as I only consumed two tiny dough balls and seven chicken nuggets! This outing was supposed to be a treat for my family, and now I feel like I’ve wasted so much money."

"My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. I came here for dinner on a recommendation, but the young man working at the bar seemed more interested in his phone and friends than providing good service. The diet coke I ordered was flat and tasted watered down, not like most pubs. I ordered a simple burger, which cost £15. Unfortunately, the top bun was stale, the bottom bun was soggy, and the tomatoes were clearly past their use-by date. The meat was okay and the chips were decent, but when I tried to address my concerns with the young man at the bar, he was too preoccupied with his phone and friends."

"Walked to The Fox for lunch from Aynho Wharf. Very welcoming owner. Great beer. Good food. Beautiful pub. Loved it! Walkability: Plenty of walks in the area. Pub is in the centre of the village. Quiet setting. Food drinks: Good selection of real ale. Interesting menu, great quality food at reasonable prices. Service: 5 Location: 5"
