"Wow, this pub just keeps getting better. Myself and two friends had done a walk to Birchover and returned to Winster to our favourite pub The Miners Standard made famous by a local author who calls it The Spinning Jenny. All three of us had the Owen Taylor Bangers and Mash best sausage I have ever had. This was helped down with a local brew from Aldwark Artisan Ales. We spent the afternoon with the great locals and the landlord even took time out of his busy day to have a chat. If you are looking for a proper pub and let's be honest they are a dying breed and certainly of this quality then the Miners Standard is that pub. A big thank you to the great staff who made our great day possible. we will be back"

Had a lovely meal last night at the miners standard. We are staying in Winster for the weekend and walked there with our dog, to meet old friends. Food was fantastic, all the staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was warming of a village pub. Highly recommended to others.

This is by far my favourite pub in Derbyshire. Authentic pub atmosphere, log fires, good beer and the best Sunday lunch ever. Good quality meat and delicious Yorkshire puds. They were happy to accommodate my no onion/leek allergy. We’ll be back! 5 stars for you (oh and very friendly staff too)
