The pub was pleasant enough, but they refused to provide us with a pot of hot water to accompany our pot of tea. I do not plan on returning to this establishment.

Amazing pub!!! The servicebis absolutely amazing there. Staff so friendly and very cosy inside! I forgot my rucksack inside and the bartender run after us to bring me my rucksack. Thank you so much young man!!!

This is a lovely pub to visit. We went for a late breakfast and I can honestly say they cook the best eggs Benedict I have ever tasted. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and the pub itself has a very relaxed atmosphere. Visualizza piatti

Had a great meal last night . Seafood crumpet followed by Chicken and brownie for pudding. It was really good food and well presented. The staff were friendly and professional. I would certainly recommend this restaurant/pub to others.

Excellent grub at The Old Gate. We both ordered the seafood platter number off the specials menu, sat outside and watched the world go by. The food was super tasty and clearly freshly cooked. Good selection of beers, service was spot on.

Steak and lamb from specials board really good but sharing game dish from specials board not so good. Would go again and not choose game (bit tasteless plus very hard to share a small game bird. Should have been divided into two). Staff were excellent. Visualizza piatti

We dined al fresco on a sunny October day with temperatures in the low 20s and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It was a pleasant surprise to have the young bar staff knowledgeable and able to guide us through the selection of beers on tap. We chose Vocation’s Golden Pale Ale and a Beck’s, along with a delicious salmon and prawn salad and the Fritto Misto, which featured perfectly fried seafood with the calamari being the standout. The food and service were both excellent.

Pub is absolutely fantastic, great selection of beers and great staff. The one problem unfortunately was the rude brunette waitress in her late 40’s navy blue blouse who looks like a supervisor, she rudely approached my table and sourly and abruptly told me I wasn’t allowed to play videos on my phone within 0.2 seconds! Found it really uncomfortable and embarrassing, a softer approach would have been more humane. Hopefully she has just had a long shift but judging by the footfall in the establishment at the time, it’s clearly an attitude problem.

I particularly liked the separate no dog area upstairs, as I understand that not everyone is comfortable around dogs. During this visit, we sat outside in the sun, enjoying drinks and playing cards in the afternoon. Later, we moved inside for dinner. We enjoyed the relaxed and social atmosphere, and appreciated that the staff did not rush us to leave our table. Many others were also enjoying drinks in the beer garden without ordering food. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. There was a variety of seating options, including benches and tables outside with electric heaters, as well as some sofa seating inside.
