"I am quite sad to have to write this review as having been here during the summer a few times whereby we sat outside with a drink, it was lovely! This is what made us book a table to go for some food at lunch on a weekend. We booked a table inside as it was very cold. I am really not picky with food but I have to say that it is truly one of the worst meals I have ever had.. We ordered a steak sandwich which was honestly inedible. The bread was not fresh and they spread margarine ALL over it. All you could taste was the margarine. The steak inside was SO overcooked and mostly fat. It was then smothered in burnt onions. It really was inedible. We couldnt eat it.. and we normally eat anything! The garlic mushroom balls were also inedible. Clearly just thrown into a deep fat fryer from the freezer. Also, the jacket potatoes, which are normally hard to get wrong, were awful. It was not a jacket potato it was 2 boiled potatoes in a bowl smothered in beans and loads of cheese. Nothing baked about it. The toilets are in really bad shape and the inside of the pub is in need of serious cleaning. However, had the food been good, this wouldnt have bothered us. I honestly just cannot understand how any chef could send out that food.. it was really really awful. I would still go back and sit outside with a pint.. but I would certainly never eat there again unfortunately."

This is one of my favorite pubs in Bristol. It has a traditional atmosphere and serves the best pints. The drive here can be a bit fun, especially if you have to navigate the one-lane road with traffic.

Early Bank holiday tea with the kids, very fast food. Landlord very helpful. Lovely venue, couple of young loud stupid customers that were very rude landlord soon put a stop to it.. kids always enjoy this place. Will always be back.

we went to the pub after a 4k walk along the river and it was really nice. the location is beautiful and the staff friendly. the food was nice, simple honest food, my husband particularly enjoyed the burger. was great to use the eat out to help out scheme too

Second time here for a Sunday roast. Great location next to the river. Lovely for a mid way cycle ride or walk. Food was good, however, took over an hour to come... understood they were very busy as weather was good, nevertheless, felt the communication could have been much better. Had to ask for a menu, then to order, and then how much longer it would be. Would have been better had they said there was quite a wait. It’s worth a visit, definitely need to book (which we did) but be aware you might be waiting a while!

We visited after a walk along the river on a Saturday afternoon, it is a lovely venue and we have walked past before. I ordered a meat pizza which was pretty tasteless, doughy and the cheese was rubbery. My husband had a double stack burger which wasn’t great either, the chips were nice. I asked if one of the beers was in cask or keg and I was told that it was in keg. When it was served it was clearly from a cask and it was lacking in carbonation. I feel this venue has such great potential but the quality of the ingredients and menu isn’t up to standard, especially as the pricing is quite high. Unfortunately we will not be back. The staff were very nice and attentive.
