"I recently enjoyed a wonderful meal at this restaurant, as I always do. I'm not sure what the one negative review from a few days ago was talking about - I wonder if they went to the wrong place! This restaurant is never dirty, the service is excellent, the manager is efficient, and the waitresses are delightful. The portion sizes are very generous, I always struggle to finish my meal. The staff all wear matching Red Cow t-shirts, giving the place a more upscale look compared to other pub food venues. They have recently started opening for drinks on Mondays and Tuesdays, offering free bar snacks which is a great perk for local customers. They also have live music on some Sundays, which I haven't experienced yet but I am looking forward to it. Overall, I am very impressed with this restaurant and I hope they continue to maintain their great staff, amazing chef, and welcoming atmosphere."

My wife and I decided to visit the Red Cow at Ackleton which it has recently reopened after an extended closure and refurbishment. We used to enjoy visiting the Red Cow due to its friendly atmosphere and food and were extremely pleased to say this...

Last visited The Red Cow 45 years ago when I was 10, I remember the donkey in the field that is now the beer garden. Its changed quite a bit to say the least. Booked a table for Sunday lunch, we ordered the roast beef and lamb. The meal was lovely and freshly cooked, served by a polite and cheerful young lady. Will definitely return to sample other meals. My wife and I were so looking forward to returning to the Red Cow as we’d heard it had reopened after dining there for many years. The refurbishment couldn’t be faulted. The interior was very upmarket, lovely furnishings and every detail was spot on. We went for Sunday lunch and we were very disappointed. It came as a ‘plated up’ meal. All the meats were ‘slow roasted’ so there was no option for rare beef. Although the lamb shoulder was supposed to be ‘slow roasted’ it was tough. The only saving grace was the gammon. The vegetables could have done with being served separately as not everyone wants a lot served up to them. A full plate could put a lot of people off. We couldn’t fault the serv...

We decided to have a few drinks here as a change to our usual pub we’re so glad we did. How lovely to have a beer garden that’s just that….a lovely green space free of “children’s play areas” screaming children! Very pleasant to sit out on a lovely summers evening. We decided on the spur of the moment to eat there as well we all enjoyed our food, traditional faggots, delicious sausage mash with a tasty gravy some great chunky cheesy chips for my son! The staff were all very pleasant welcoming , something that shouldn’t stand out but these days it sadly does. The refurbishment of the pub has been carried out well it’s very comfortable . Pity that more people don’t use a village pub that’s lit...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. If you are looking for a curry house with a difference this is the place for you. #theshropshirefoodies #foodblog #foodstagram #shrewsbury #shropshire #restaurantreview #foodjournal #foodblogger #instafood"

"Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
