"We 've been to 'The Brasserie ' before and we 've always loved it. This time was no different, we really enjoyed the experience. The staff here are brilliant, and every one of them helped to make our evening really enjoyable. I don 't remember any names, but everyone we encountered was professional yet friendly. The food wasn 't amazing. I had the scotch egg to start, and the homemade 'brown sauce ' tasted like unadulterated tamarind sauce. It wasn 't unpleasant, but the two made a strange combination. I had cheese to finish and the chutney served with the cheese tasted like mango chutney mixed with chilli jam. Again, it wasn 't unpleasant, just strange. We had a great evening and really enjoyed The Brasserie. The staff are great, but the flavours for the meal just lacked something."

"below expectations The Bybrook at the Manor House is one of those destination restaurants that sound like a great idea for a luxurious, country weekend escape. The grand stone building sits in beautiful parkland and has all the wood panelling, fireplaces and elegant furnishings that you could ever desire. The only problem is, it’s restaurant serves a very ordinary menu, which doesn’t deliver the “unusual flavours and stunning presentation” that they would have you expect; a real shame. Getting off to an unassuring start, Chef Richard Davies presents “duck liver” au torchon, perhaps trying to trick diners who might be squeamish about eating foie gras, into doing just that. A bit odd that he isn’t more up-front with his guests. No matter, as the house-made foie gras is well prepared. It’s coated in a power of dark cocoa to add another dimension to the bistro classic, while an apricot purée provides the tangy sweet element to the dish. What is less convincing is addition of the crunchy"

"I dined at Hywel Jones last week during my trip to the Cotswolds and had a mixed experience. First off, the good the food and wine were amazing. We chose to do the à la carte menu and each dish was so balanced. The amuse bouche which was a parsnip mash was incredible. The dishes were also beautifully constructed. Now on to the bad the hostess was awful and quite abrasive. She barely looked us in the eye and kind of tossed us the menus. She said she would send the sommelier over and walked off. As this was our first encounter with the staff, it instantly left a sour taste in my mouth. Luckily the rest of the staff were lovely. I had dined with 2 other people and we all realized that we had felt the same coldness from the hostess when discussing the dinner after the fact. A few minor things we noted about the service was that no one removed the crumbs from our table between courses and our napkins were not placed on our laps. These are things we have experienced at other Michelin star restaurants in France etc and while minor, they do enhance the dining experience."

"My son and daughter came to visit me and their mother in Wiltshire after she had been hospitalized. After the crisis passed, we decided to treat ourselves to a night out. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere at The Bell, with no loud music to interrupt our conversation. The staff, particularly the younger members, were friendly and efficient. We all enjoyed our meals, with starters of calamari and garlic mushrooms, and main courses of lasagne with dauphinoise potatoes and steamed vegetables, and Thai Cod and Prawn fishcakes. I am not a fan of dogs in restaurant settings, so I was glad to see none in the dining area. Overall, I had a positive experience and look forward to returning with my wife. I did not see an option for online reservations on their website, but I received a prompt response when I called to book a table."

"Came her a few days ago for a quick bite to eat with my partner and 3 of our kids. It is tucked away off the main street so we may have missed it had I not looked up the address prior to our jouney. This was our lunch stop but due to traffic we did not get there until 2.30pm and unfortunately there was only 1 sandwich left on offer – so our youngest had the sandwich with some crisps and a carton of juice, whilst one of our others had a couscous pot and three of us had the cream tea. The scones were very cute – being heart shaped and came with a sharing pot of jam and one of clotted cream plus a pot of tea. We started off sitting outside (as wanted to make the most of the sun but we were literally plagued with wasps, so the kids took their food inside and we braved the onslaught! The inside of the café is really cosy and decorated in an eclectic way and there were two cute dogs inside which my youngest adored (not sure if they are a permanent feature! . The staff were all very friendly and polite."
