"I took my daughter for lunch here recently and was so disappointed with how The Trogh has deteriorated. Prices have increased considerably which in the current market I have no problem with but the portion sizes has dramatically shrunk too! My daughter and I both opted for the ceaser salad which was served with a very undercooked inedible egg, just a tiny sprinkle of finely chopped chicken and limp undercooked bacon. Very few salad leaves which for the price was poor. I asked to speak to the manager or shift leader as my meal was delivered 20 mins before my daughter and grandsons came out. I pointed this out to the shift leader who was nothing less than rude and hostile. She offered no apologies or solutions so eventually I suggested that she may like to refund my daughter’s meal. There were no checks backs on the table when the order was finally complete which is and should be standard. I can forgive poor food as we all have bad days but can’t forgive poor front of house customer service. Hasten to say we won’t be returning unfortunately. On a positive note the burger and fries was thoroughly enjoyed by my grandson."

£20 Per Person for a sandwich and a drink is not great value for money! Not sure we will return.

We met with family at this chic country restaurant. The food was tasty and well presented. The staff were courteous and charming. We will definitely visit again.

Sunday lunch with friends . Lovely location on a sunny day with views across the fields and the cattle at the fence. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Excellent roasts. Huge Yorkshire pudding and gravy to die for.

I booked afternoon tea here as a Christmas present for a friend and it was amazing. The portions were great, we could change the drink or upgrade to Prosecco if we wanted but we had hot chocolates. Food was really tasty, the brownie was my favourite. The service was brilliant as always and I think it’s a really reasonable price. Highly recommend.

We came down from London for the day to visit family and booked The Trough through google reviews and we were not disappointed. Fabulous food, drinks and staff were very attentive. I would recommend The Trough to anyone looking for somewhere that is off the beaten track but is first class in every aspect. It's a shame it was raining so couldn't enjoy the fabulous views that we saw for 5 minutes. Well done to everyone involved in making this a first class establishment.

The food is good, but not cheap. Burgers come without fries, which cost an extra £4. It can get very busy, and this means a long wait between ordering and receiving your meal. We waited over 40 minutes. The lunchtime selection is not extensive, less than in many pubs. The internal acoustics mean that the main restaurant is very noisy, so forget about having a quiet romantic lunch. Finally, the car park surface is truly dreadful, and if it is wet you will tread pale brown mud on to your car carpets, and this will dry to a cream coloured powder which is not easy to remove.

"Our first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs. The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean. Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better. There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar. We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone. A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like The George Inn."
