"Staying overnight with our dog, booked into room 1, ideal, very dog friendly and the room was spotless, even a dog bed was supplied that seemed brand new, I took Bentley down to the bar for a pre dinner drink while my wife got ready, got chatting to locals, very friendly, my wife had fish and chips, she said it was delicious, I couldn 't resist the rump steak with chips and peppercorn sauce, the sauce is one of the best I have ever had, washed down with a reasonably priced Argentinian Malbec, after food we went into the snug a comfortable room with leather armchairs and sofas , very relaxing and got chatting with more friendly locals until we could keep our eyes open no longer. Must mention the American Oregon beer, a dark flavoursome beer which is definitely worth a try. Well done Paul and Tracey you run a very good place !"

"The waiter was very young, nervous and didn’t have a notepad or a particularly good memory. The food took quite awhile to arrive. It was tasty and hot. There were candles everywhere but not lit (perhaps they don’t bother on a Monday evening? The music was some sort of rap/house music? At least the volume was low. It wasn’t suited to the clientele."

"Used to live here and loved it when it reopened as a pub with dining in 2026. Yet another pub has fallen into becoming a restaurant, although I fully appreciate the financial necessities. Just a shame for the village. It is part of a three site group and this more or less surpasses the Plough in Kingham and almost as good as the Crown in Enstone. However, not that much between them… Smallish menu with which I have no gripe at all as the expertise of the chef is concentrated and, here, he is excellent. The seafood was sublime for an area lacking in enough decent fish and shell fish on menus. The front of house were more than capable, efficient and almost invisible which is a mark of professionalism and training. Only reason marked it down one star would be I could only give the Crown at Enstone five!!"

"My husband and I were traveling through the Cotswolds and decided to stop at this historic inn, which is said to be one of the oldest in England. Unfortunately, the bar was closed when we arrived. However, the new owners kindly opened up for us. Tom, the owner's son, took a break from restoring the inn to serve us the best alcohol-free beer we have ever tasted, the Lucky Saint. As we enjoyed our drinks in the beautiful medieval courtyard, both Tom and his father shared with us the fascinating history of the inn and its famous guests, including Queen Elizabeth 1st and Oswald Mosley. We are from the States, so we won't be able to make this place our regular spot. We are just lucky visitors, that's for sure!"

"I booked, in secret, for my wife's birthday. I had asked them if I could pre order the food so we didn't have to wait as we were tight on time. I also asked if they could hold onto her gift from me and present it to her with the wine. All went perfectly with superb friendly service, amazing steaks, great value red wine. In and out within 60 minutes. Perfect"
