"We went to Vicolo39 with friends on a Saturday, under our friends' recommendation.The location is fantastic, in the middle of the old part of Carouge and with a beautiful quiet terrasse away from the main street. We all ordered starters and main courses. The waitress who served us wasn't specially friendly, but o.k. so far.We received the starters very quickly. They were all remarkably abundant and good. However, once we'd finished the starters, the problems began. First, we noticed that all the tables around us, even those who had been occupied long after us, got served their main courses while we were kept waiting. A couple of friends who had arrived at the restaurant at same time as us came to tell us goodbye, as they'd finished their meals and were leaving. While serving another table around us, a waiter finally came to us and told us we hadn't been forgotten. However, we were still kept waiting. The waitress who had served us at the beginning carefully avoided any close passage to our table for fear of being called. She even avoided looking towards our table. Finally, they served us the main courses and said that unfortunately our order hadn't been passed to the kitchen.... The waiter said he would give us a limoncello to make up for the wait.After we finished our mains and we shared a little dessert, they gave us the bill... but then again they all disappeared and no one came to collect the money. When I stood up and went to ask to settle the bill partly cash and partly by credit card, the waiters, who were busy cleaning up the space by that time, looked funnily at me and seemed very annoyed. One of them very impolitely walked me into the main room and FINALLY allowed me to settle the bill. I of course didn't leave one cent tip, I think I have very rarely experienced such a rude behaviour and no serious attempt to make up for all the evident flaws.Finally, while this restaurant has lots of potential in terms of location and quality of the food, I am afraid it has a long way to go in terms of good service and good manners. I don't think I'll ever get back there!"

How many times in your life you have been in front of a menu and you would like to try everything? Not very often to me. Whatever you chose you will enjoy a great experience . No complaints.The ordered wine was not in the house - can happen, Prosecco as well not available - should not happen, not even an Italian bitter like Averna or Ramazotti as digestif. Non non non et non!Belle cuisine mais serveur très désagréable et pas du tout commercial.Une tablée de 12 personnes, un bel événement, et le service qui demande 170 euros pour une bouteille de limoncello, sous prétexte qu'il faut rendre des comptes au chef... Non mais ho! Ayant travaillé dans des bars et restaurant italien, ça ne tue personne un verre de limoncello, surtout pour une consommation passée 800 CHF... ou un café!On ne reviendra plus, ni la famille (qui avait l'habitude d'être hébergée ici!), ni les amis, ni les collègues! Tout ça à cause d'un serveur pathétique. Aïe!

My husband and I visited for lunch. We ate there many years ago and it was lovely. Unfortunately this time the food was very disappointing. My starter of burata has a thick skin. The Brocollini and green beans had been overcooked and there was no flavoured sauce to accompany it such as balsamic etc. I ordered the fish for main, the fish was cooked okay, however again very bland, no seasoning and overcooked green vegetables again.
