"Returned after a year and the food and standards are equally as good as they were.Staff were attentive but not intrusive. We sat in the restaurant not in the consevatory. We had prawn cocktails then i had the Cowshed Pie which was steak and haggis in a rich gravy, others had the small fish and chips and the Gluten free chicken.Everything was piping hot but my veg could have been cooked longer.Desserts were Cowshed sundaes and ice creams. It was a very nice dining experience which we come to expect from this place."

"This was our first visit and definitely not our last! The decor is tasteful, the place is spotless, and the staff are attentive and helpful. We shared a fish pakora to start, light and tasty, with a rocket side salad instead of the usual limp garnish. The mains were equally flavoursome, the chicken damask was sweet and slightly spicy with lentils and pineapple and the vegetable rice was delicious too. The chicken chilli balti was hot and spicy too. Overall, the attention to detail, the lovely cutlery and wine glasses, all add to the experience. A reasonably priced and very tasty meal."

"We were on our way to Inverness and decided to stop for dinner at 6pm. We ordered shredded chili beef, pancake rolls, fries, and a special chow mein dish. However, what we received was not what we expected. The shredded chili beef was actually deep fried batter strips in a tasteless watery red soup, the pancake rolls were flavorless empty dough rolls, and the fries were hollow and tasteless. The chow mein had some flavor, but it was not up to par. Overall, the meal was disappointing. People in Ballater must have simple tastes."

"Not good at all. Cullen Skink was a piece of leek and tiny piece of fish with a horrible bland sauce poured over the fish from a separate container....not Cullen skink...awful. Tasteless. Wouldnt go back. Very poor...it was empty ...on a Saturday...this tells you something."

"Poor service Drink order asked for a St. Clements got a orange and lemonade as they didn't have bitter lemon they didn't even give me the option of choosing something else and they forgot my husbands pint. Food advertised as fresh was actually restaurant...pre prepared catering pack supplies. Burger was rock hard chips were soggy, fettuccini with chicken and bacon in a cream wine sauce made me feel ill for which makes me think it had some of these ingredients in it Water, White Wine Carrots Rapeseed Oil, Mushrooms Modified Maize Starch, Onions, Cream (from Milk) Sugar, Acid (Lactic Acid), Garlic, Salt, Pasteurised Egg Yolk, Stabiliser (Xanthan Gum), Yeast Extract, Chives, Ground Black Pepper, Parsley. Disappointed but hey ho when I went there years ago I got undercooked chicken with greenish potatoes with eyes so their standard has improved slightly."

"We have used this Chinese for many years both take away and restaurant. Ordered our take away at 645 to be told 45 mins. Headed down for 730 to a scene of very irrate customers. After waiting 10 minutes to be spoken to I spoke to other customers who had been wanting an hour and 15 mins for their 30 minute order . There was customers coming back who only received half their order as well. I approached a member of staff and asked for an honest answer on how long my order will be she said late . I then cancelled my order. A completely wasted journey. The frustrating thing was that rather than helping the other frustrated customers they continued to take phone orders. Pure greed from the management which will back fire on them as all they were doing was letting more people down."

"Went there for our meal tonight the quality of the food you cannot fault, however the portion sizes are minimal. I’m not a big eater by any means but had I not asked for more chips I would have gone home hungry. Haven’t been here for many years and by all accounts it will be a long time before I re visit. However the current owner has the premises up for sale due to retirement whether it remains as a hotel once sold who knows. I feel it is over priced for what you get about 6.75 for a starter 14.95 for haddock you goujon’s and 6.75 for a sweet. The chips came in a small dish for my wife and I which I could have eaten myself !!! It may look a lot but believe me it’s not."

"We had a wonderful lunch at the Corner House. It was the ideal place to stop for a meal after cycling the Bike Trails at Tarland and Aboyne. The chicken and leek soup was excellent, and the sweet potato, chilli, and coconut soup was also very tasty. We all loved creating our own paninis, with the bacon, Brie, and red onion chutney one being the standout favorite. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, even reorganizing tables to seat our family of seven. The restaurant was bustling but it was worth exploring the charming gift shop while waiting for a table."

"I would recommend not choosing the carvery at this restaurant. I was extremely disappointed, especially since I was looking forward to it. The Roast Beef was so tough that I couldn't even cut it with a knife, and they had run out of mashed and roast potatoes. We had to wait for a long time for our plates to be served with meat, and by the time the potatoes arrived, my food had already gone cold. The vegetables were only lukewarm, the stuffing was like rubber, and we didn't receive the extras we had paid for. The person serving at the carvery seemed overwhelmed and unhelpful. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. We did complain and were given a 20% discount on our bill, which didn't make up for the fact that we couldn't even eat half of our meal due to its poor quality. However, I must mention that the server who took our complaint was very kind and handled the situation well. Despite the issues we faced, she was cheerful and dealt with our complaints professionally. I would suggest finding another restaurant for your Sunday lunch."

"Visited the restaurant at Raemoir garden centre with friends for a light lunch however, it was difficult to find anything plain on the menu. The Lite Bites menu seemed to contain so many ingredients so if you didn 't like one you were stuck. Sandwiches and baked potatoes all seemed to contain mayonnaise, coleslaw, onion or pickle etc, and if you cannot have cheese you are limited. Even the chicken salad contained bacon, caesar dressing and Parmesan cheese topped with croutons. All salads are served with red onion or avocado with a dressing on the side. Difficult if you don 't like any of these ingredients. If you want a heavier lunch such as fish and chips then this is the place to go. My friends had a full meal which they enjoyed and judging by the queue to get in, this is a popular place. The servers were polite and pleasant."

"As an American, I decided to try a scone at this restaurant. I ordered a plain scone with cream and jam and found it to be delicious. My boyfriend had a jacket potato with beans and enjoyed it. We both appreciated the cute teapot for one. I also had two hot cups of tea with my scone. The staff was very friendly and welcoming."

"I've got one out of my mind last week. it took about 15-20 minutes to be ready when I phoned in the order, which is well considering that it was a Saturday night. a little thing was that the hand-anitary appeared on the doorway. to be empty, so it would be a good idea if they could replace it with a new bottle for customers to use when they are in the building. I went for the chicken bhuna that was delicious. we also had rice and naan, which were also delicious. the woman had praised vindaloo and she said it was very nice. the portion sizes were good, and the huh seemed really fresh. the bill came to £20.40 for two people, the good value for money. they do not accept credit card payments only so remember to take cash with them when they collect. I had only £20 on me so that the staff left me with the 40p that was kind of. overall I would rate this place 10/10, and I will definitely be back soon."

"this was my third visit, although the first one for a few years. I expected a fabulous meal, but unfortunately was disappointed. Eating was good, but not exceptional. the tempura prawns could have been from the island. they were dim balls. .doughy balls, with little taste and an unpalatable texture. the bottle wein (of the cheaper end of the winery last) was very common if I had paid for it from a last, I would have made a note not to buy it again. I had hoped to start with a beer, but unfortunately there were only camps or small doses of beer under the ales section of the drink menu. since they took the pub since I was last there, I could have got a beer. at the end of the meal I decided to take a whisky with my coffee, just to discover that even the cheapest ordinary whisky was for a tiny shot. That's ridiculous. I waited until I came home and had one with my cheese and cookies because I was hungry for the tiny portions. I'm not leaving."

"Phoned in my delivery order for a free banquet meal given as a gesture of good will after complaining about our home delivery on Hogmanay last year being hours late. Explained the circumstances over the phone and was told that the owner, Brian, would...need to endorse this. Received a phone call an hour later from the same female worker stating Brian had endorsed my order but that I had to collect it. The restaurant is only minutes down the road so no big deal. On arrival at the restaurant I gave my name and address to Brian and his demeanour instantly changed for the worse without him saying anything. Another customer came in behind me and Brian started serving him leaving me standing feeling extremely uncomfortable and poorly treated. After handing over the other customers’ takeaway order Brian handed me my order and told me that he won’t be delivering to my address again. When I asked why he stated I was taking the **** waiting almost a year to order our free meal he had offered for the original poor customer service. Granted it’s been a year however he never specified a date I had to order the free meal by. He also has absolutely no idea of my circumstances or how the COVID pandemic has affected me or my family. I’ve never been treated so poorly by a business owner and left feeling disgusted with how I had been treated. Perhaps Brian and his restaurant should get better organised to manage deliveries and how they deal with customer complaints. An idea would also be to issue vouchers for free meals with expiry dates to prevent a reoccurrence of this nature."

"I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip and found it to be quite good overall. The room (double) was a decent size and had a Sony TV with a built-in DVD player. The standout feature of this hotel is the food, which is much better than other hotels I have stayed at. In the small town of Cruden Bay, there may not be many other dining options available, but that is not a problem as the food at this hotel is excellent. I particularly enjoyed the 5 spiced duck and chicken risotto mains, which were both delicious. My colleague ordered the fish and chips one night and it was a generous portion - you can even request a second piece of fish. All of the main courses are sizable. Additionally, the cooked breakfast was also very good."

"Stayed here this week. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Susan the owner showed us to the room and told us everything we needed to know to settle in. Its an old building with lots of character features. The room and bed was comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, lots of choice served freshly prepared to your table with care and speed. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Lots of local ingredients. Lots of choice. Helpful and motivated staff. The food was well cooked and presented and very enjoyable and exceeded my expectations. We tried several items during the stay and the black pudding bon bons, the monk fish scampi, the Cullen skink and chicken linguinie were all deliciousI would definitely stay and eat here again. Well done Cameron and Susan. The other recent review that says avoid at all costs can't be trusted in anyway in my experience."
