"I’d rather you didn’t go so there is a table for me!! What a fabulous gem of a restaurant alongside a lovely farm shop. There are two sections to the restaurant. A conservatory, which is available for use with your 4 legged friends. And then an indoor restaurant. The staff were efficient and friendly. The choice of food was good and prices were fair. We each had a toastie and it came with salad, slaw and crisps! Plenty to eat! BUT……. You need to keep room for dessert! On the day we went there were at least 20 choices of cakes, slices and other goodies. And they are big!!! My mum and her friend split a cream meringue and even split it was HUGE!! The kitchen staff have to be praised. The quality of their food and the speed things came out. They must be a finely tuned machine! Well done!! Is there any downside. Not down just a caution. The conservatory is not fully enclosed, it’s all glass but has gaps around all the panels. So if it’s cold outside, you might find it chilly. They take reservations and I would book if I was going during a popular time and I wanted an inside table. I hope you love this place as much as we did!!"

We stopped in for coffee and cake and left without either. After being shown to a table we were clearly forgotten, after 7 minutes without any form of acknowledgment we left disappointed.

Thank you very much to the lovely girls in the shop who were nice enough to weigh out raspberries for me which I needed to make jam. I phoned to enquire if they had any and when I arrived they were all ready for me. Very helpful and friendly staff…thank you! The raspberries were delicious too and made really nice jam!

Its been a while since I was here. There is now a big extension out the back. Food is still reasonable but service very poor. The waiting staff are all teenagers and seem a bit clueless. Service was very slow and at one point I was beginning to think that there was only one person in the kitchen. Management need to initiate a proper training program.

This is a great facility with facilities for all including pets. Very good food with an imaginative menu and a lovely shop with lots of goodies. But….boy does it need staff training! I was shocked to see a young girl plate up the chips with her bare hands and then watched her and colleagues eat chips at the pass. This is unacceptably poor hygiene and needs addressed I wouldn’t return. Visualizza piatti

Hubster had the roast sirloin Sunday dinner with a side of onion rings. He was very happy with his choice. The onion rings are always amazing! I had the Cullen Skink with brown bread and a side of coleslaw. All very tasty but a couple of decent chunks of haddock would have been nice. The service is always incredibly quick and friendly. We bought two of their legendary strawberry tarts to eat later at home.

I went to this restaurant with a friend for coffee and cake. The coffee was delicious, as well as the cakes. The drinks took a bit longer than usual, but it was during a busy time so it was understandable. One of the waiters even came over to let us know the drinks were on their way, which was a nice touch. The service was very friendly as well. I have also been here for lunch before and it was always fantastic.

During our journey to Aberdeen, we decided to stop at this restaurant to charge our car and grab a meal. I highly recommend this place for several reasons. The staff was friendly and helpful, the service was fast, the food arrived promptly and was incredibly tasty. The Cullen Skink soup was fantastic, and the sausages and mash were deemed the best meal my partner had tasted in a while (and we were on holiday, eating out frequently). Additionally, the prices were reasonable for the quality of food we received. Visualizza piatti

The restaurant is in a fantastic location and the food is absolutely delicious, making it a highly recommended spot for lunch. During my first visit, I had an amazing curry and was so impressed that I returned a few weeks later. However, I found that the menu had changed. Nevertheless, my friend ordered the goat cheese salad, which was both huge and tasty. The small gift shop is a nice touch, as it offers local produce for sale. The service is excellent, the restrooms are clean, and there is ample parking available.

We visited the Cafe for coffee and cake today, the place was packed which is usually a good sign! We ordered 2 cappuccinos, a banoffee pie and lemon meringue pie. When cappuccinos arrived, the waitress spilt one all over the saucer and no replacement was offered, a napkin was presented for us to wipe it up! They were watered down white coffees with no foam! The banoffee pie, well where do I start. The toffee sauce was only around the outside of the pastry and the case was mainly empty give or take a few small slices of banana. The lemon meringue pie had barely any lemon sauce again an empty case and very dry. Overall very poor and that’s not the first bad experience we have had here. There i...

"Sunday, 3rd September 2023 – 19:00 Meal: Wine Starters – Main – Coffee My friend and I arrived at 19:00 to a busy but not overfull restaurant without a reservation and they accommodated us upstairs. Menus were produced and we ordered a bottle of white wine and a jug of water. 0rders placed for starters and 2 servings of the Italian style fish stew on the ‘Specials Board’ at 26.99 each. Tomato and chilli with promises of loads of different fish. The toss up was between a steak or the stew (which neither of us would cook at home). The table was dirty and needed wiping – this request was placed 3x on the young waitron who eventually produced a cloth slopping water from a bucket in the corner cupped in her hands where she half heartedly wiped the table with water dripping onto my friend’s lap. Hurried mop up with tissues out of my bag. The white wine was plonked on the table – next to the cooler – unopened and no glasses. Several attempts were made to attract the waitron’s attention. Eventually another bottle was produced opened and we were advised the waitron was under age and not allowed to pour wine. Perfectly acceptable had she produced an opener and the glasses with an explanation I would have been happy to help myself – we understand and appreciate these things. The starters arrived and were delicious! The chef then came out to see us and explained that there was no lobster for the stew – we asked for extra monkfish, he then said there was no monkfish left – but could help us with other white fish and crab claws. He said he was down to the last 2 portions, and he would ensure they were hearty. We were a bit concerned and suggested perhaps we settle for the steak which is always delicious. He assured us we had made the right choice and would enjoy the stew. The stews arrived and were ‘hearty’ if being crammed with the contents of a tin of crab claws is your definition of hearty. The promised ‘rich tomato broth with chilli and garlic’ was a watered down version of what was clearly less than a cup of the original broth left at the bottom of the pot topped with water. It was tasteless – lacking in hint of either chilli, wine, garlic or herbs – having lived in Malta I can assure you I have a deep understanding of Med cooking. I guess we were lucky we didn’t have the salty brine of the crab claws as the broth. It was inedible and we were starving so we kept adding salt and pepper – we were beyond the point of returning the food which was a mistake in hindsight. We skipped dessert – had coffees and left. The meal came to nearly £100.00. This was an expensive lousy experience. We paid a generous tip – because they accommodated us without a reservation. Take aways from the experience: • The restaurant service on a Sunday evening at 19:00 should be as good as it is on a Friday at 19:00 • Being a local and having eaten there several times – it is my first choice for a ‘good’ meal – don’t abuse the luxury of local support. • Train your waitrons to clean tables, by wringing out the cloth and not dripping water on your patrons. • Waitrons (even under aged ones) should at least carry a wine opener, and understand that wine glasses should be produced when delivering wine. • Your chef should know better and never, ever assume he can cut costs by selling the dregs from his kitchen. • A poor dining experience costs you more than you think. We would have ordered dessert, and more importantly returned for a second meal in the next week – WE DIDN’T! I have a friend coming from Ireland in November – do I risk taking her to the Anchor?"
