"We stopped by for coffee and scones. I chose a cheese scone while my husband had a fruit scone with butter and jam. The staff was friendly and the table was clean. The scones were served nicely on small wooden boards and were quite large. Unfortunately, they were quite dense and dry. I'm not sure if they were not fresh or if that's just how they are made. I ended up leaving most of mine, but my husband managed to finish his with the help of the jam. The coffee was decent. When I mentioned the issue with the scone while paying the bill, I was apologised to. We have no plans on returning to this establishment."

The food was decent, but the wait time was quite long. The service was good, and we opted for a sit-down lunch. Prices ranged from £10–20 per person. The quality of the food was rated a 3, the service a 4, and the atmosphere a 3.

Terrible unclean place. I wanted food but flies everywhere on the scones and cakes. Tables cloths and carpet are disgusting. I left in a hurry. Please do not eat those uncovered cakes and scones, younger ones especially could be very sick. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Lunch here late June '23. I 'm being quite kind giving 3*. Staff are pretty poor and somewhat unfriendly regrettably, the food isn 't much better and quite expensive for what it is. This place used to be really lovely with a great selection of food and friendly staff. Sorry, we won 't be back! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch

Excellent service, friendly and warm with a healthy dose of smile thrown in. Couldn 't be more helpful. The food was not bad and choices available were ok but nothing stuck out, so to speak. I thought the prices were leaning a little toward the expensive side for what was produced. Overall, a good location, excellent service but could do with a little work on what is offered. Service: Dine in

After coming off the A1 at Scotch corner, we were very hungry as we had set off early and had been driving for 3 hours. We looked around for local gluten free cafes for breakfast.. We came across this place.. We arrived at the cafe only to be told no gluten free options available... Very very poor even advertised on the window with a trip advisor sticker saying gluten free friendly. If you don't do gluten free please don't advertise and waste peoples time. . Bet if I was a vegetarian you would cater for me.. Sorry for my illness and my inconvenience.

"We arrived frazzled because we drove around the grounds in the dark not knowing where to go. The signage inside the grounds is no help at all. Allow time for this if you haven't been before. Fortunately we had because we wanted a pre dinner drink in the bar before we ate. Even when we did arrive we weren't sure if we had arrived at the back entrance because we stood for ages with no welcome or acknowledgement. A very disappointing start to our evening. When someone did come they didn't take our coats. We went through to the snug for a drink. They gave us menus and went away. Later came back for our order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then very quickly afterwards we were asked to go through to the restaurant. We had only had a couple of sips of our drinks and it was still prior to the time we had actually booked our table for (7.30pm). We felt rushed. The food came and was fabulous. I had the beetroot starter which had beautifully cooked beetroots and some pickles. It also had a grain through it. I couldn't remember what the grain was so asked a member of staff. She didn't know so went away to ask and came back saying it was probably buckwheat....probably! My main was pork belly with parsnip and an apple reduction. The pork could have been cooked a little longer. I think belly needs to be very well cooked until really soft. The top skin was impossible to cut through as it was not crisp, I couldn't eat it. A steak knife would have helped. Having said that it was still a good dish which could have been excellent. We had sides of mashed potato and greens with pickles both superb. The presentation of both dishes was innovative and inviting. Portion size was good too not tiny portions of fiddled with food which I much prefer. The service was not as polished as the food. There was no obvious manager and we had different servers which is never quite as good as one for the entire meal. The servers were scruffy not appropriate for such a lovely building. Overall it was OK but could have been superb with more attention to some details. Service: 2 Location: 3"
