Excellent service from really friendly staff. Food was really tasty and very filling. Perfectly cooked turkey dinner. Very tasty prawn cocktail and excellent comments for Christmas pud and the apple crumble with custard from the group. It's just a very clean welcoming pub.

I decided to stop by this restaurant on my way home because I didn't feel like cooking on a Sunday evening. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, with nice decor, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoyed a delicious meal that was well cooked and presented, exactly what I was craving. It was just perfect for me. I will definitely be returning and recommend this restaurant to anyone reading this review.

We stopped by for a quick drink on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. After seeing the menu and the delicious-looking food being served, we decided to stay for an impromptu Sunday roast. We started with a tasty scallop starter and then enjoyed the Roast Beef and Roast Turkey meals, which were flavorful and beautifully presented. This newly refurbished pub, which will soon being doing food again, was a great place to be on 31 Dec 2017 01 Jan 2018 The bar staff were a great and happy bunch who kept up a great service throughout the night. There was a mixture of locals visitors in the bar and everyone was very enthusiastic for the new look and feel of the pub. There seemed to be a sense of relief that the village had its ‘local’ back! The beer was good and the bar staff were a dab-hand at cocktails too! Being just off the Pennine Way it’s great place to stop for a rest some refreshment be it alcohol or beverage. I believe they have a nice garden terrace out the back which will be nice to sit out on later in the year.

I've visited this pub for the past three years as a very welcome stop on The Spine race. I've always found the landlord to be very personable and always enjoy the banter in the pub. It's a very welcoming place to have a meal the landlord puts on some great home cooked meals at very reasonable prices. This year we were amazed to find the landlord had put sheets on the seats so we could all sit down and enjoy our meals without removing our boots! This was a treat as we were very tired being able to sit in our muddy gear was fantastic. The place has a very warm welcoming atmosphere a real open fire. This was by far the best place we stop at on the Pennine Way I can highly recommend. Can't wait...

As my dad isn 't on TripAdvisor, I am writing on his behalf. My mum and dad were out walking and they were looking forward to a bowl of soup and a pint. They were outside knocking mud off their boots when the landlord came out and told them there was no point in doing that as they have to take their boots off anyway because they have just had new carpets! Now, we all understand that no-one wants their new carpets spoiling and that muddy walking boots would mess them up. The point is that the landlord was very off-hand.
