Hotel Keutmann Restaurant

Pleasant service, good food and a great view. When in the neighborhood this is an excellent place to enjoy good German food. Recommended!

The menu is extensive. We enjoyed the white asparagus, the steak with onions, the schnitzel, the potato salad and the fresh plate of salad . The service is excellent.

Located directly on the banks of the Rhein, Ketmann offers very traditional local food -- schnitzel, freshwater fish, and more. My husband had a nice frilled fish; my schnitzel was fine. The dining room is very old-fashioned with wonderful views of the river and across to the Lorely Rock. Service is friendly and efficient. A good stop for an unccomplicated meal.

We were staying at the Loreleyblick Campingplatz and visited this restaurant on the last night of our stay. We wished we had visited before because in our opinion the food and service was miles better than we had experienced elsewhere across the road. The lady was rushed off her feet taking orders and delivering meals, but she managed it courteousy and a smile. A relaxed atmosphere with great views.

We were staying at this hotel so decided to eat here on our first night. The food was very good and the patio table was wonderful. We enjoyed the Rhein River and watching the river traffic go by. The only reason we couldn't give it a 5 was because our server wasn't very friendly. He was an older man and just seemed bothered when we asked for something. And we spoke in German so there wasn't a language barrier. Other than that, I would eat there again.

We were fortunate in early June 2013 that this restaurant was one of the only ones open after flooding in Sankt Goar. We had two very enjoyable meals here and probably would have gone a third time. The staff were helpful and friendly, and broke easily into English (frustrating my desire to practice my rusty German) although most of the patrons were German. The food was well prepared and portions generous. There is a great view of the Rhine valley from almost anywhere in the restaurant, indoors or out, but when the weather permits, the patio is the place to be.

The Keutmann restaurant isn't all that large, though it has an ourdoor terrace with umbrellas for when the weather is good. The variety of menu items is large, particularly for a restaurant of this size, and a vegetarian could be happy. Anyone should be able to find multiple items from which to select a meal. There is even a complete version of the menu in English. Waitstaff pleasant, helpful, and quick. Anyone considering the nearest hotel-restaurant more or less across the street would likely be disappointed in the menu, the food, and the staff. We have stayed at the Keutmann and had meals there on four occasions since 1986; we think it's a winner.

While traveling up the Rhine, my boyfriend and I stopped for dinner one night at Hotel Keutmann Restaurant, and we were so glad we did! My boyfriend ordered the schnitzel, which he thought was very good. I'm a vegetarian, and was happy to find Hotel Keutmann had three vegetarian options (an egg dish, cauliflower patties, or vegetarian dumplings). I thought I would try something new and opted for the cauliflower patties. They were so good! Even my boyfriend, who is a devoted meat-eater, tried some of the cauliflower patties and admitted that he thought they were delicious. Six of us ate dinner at Keutmann after a friend had recommended it and we were SO glad we did! We ate outside on their covered terrace overlooking the Rhine which was beautiful. (I only noticed a small inside dining room.) Keutmann is off the B9 roadway next to a large campground outside of St. Goar proper. The restaurant tends to fill up quickly with campers as well as hotel guests, so plan accordingly. The service was acceptable even though the restaurant was quite full and we only noticed one very busy waitress handling tables. Prices on the menu were moderate for the area.
