Irwells Bistro - Menu

Busy friendly place with lots of choice, pleasing to appetites big and small

Excellent spot for enjoying a drink and a slice of cake or a toasted teacake. However, the menu is very restricted for vegetarians; when we inquired, we were not presented with any breakfast options.

I like the place , it's nice but the food is not as good as described, I ordered fish and chips and it was really greasy I couldn't finish my dish. I mean with these prices you will expect to receive at least a food that you enjoy not waste it :

Ive been to Irwells.many times, the food is lovely with generous portion sizes. After visiting today I noticed quite significant price increases, particularly on soup, which seems to have jumped to £6.90 a bowl, other meals gave gone up by £1. Unfortunately for me, this will be the last time I visit Irwells, the prices are now beyond my budget.i had a pot of tea and left

The steak pie was delicious, earning two stars from me. However, the staff were unfriendly and inattentive, appearing quite unhappy. The side of chips that came with the meal were bland and of low quality, which was disappointing given the price. I would recommend going to a different restaurant unless you specifically want to dine near expensive plants and uninteresting garden furniture.

We had a very excellent lunch her to celebrate on A Level Results Day. We had a table outside in the garden and the waitress quickly brough a high chair for our grandson and a parasol to keep him in the shade We enjoyed a variety of dishes all freshly cooked with a glass of wine and a special mini beans on toast was prepared for the little one A regular favourite of ours, reasonably priced, always a lovely experience with well cooked food and efficient friendly service

We came here today to meet family for lunch and I was met with disgusting service. I tried to fit my pram through the door and was unable to do so, so I tried to open the other door next to it and noticed it wouldn’t open. In front of a large queue of customers and other staff, only what I assume to be ‘Dave’ owner or manager of this cafe walked towards me, never said anything, and wasn’t courteous, unlocked the door from the inside staring at me and giving me a cocky mouth expression as if to say I was stupid and should have known they lock it at the top from the inside. My friend and I went to Irwells today for brunch with our children. Although the place was clean and the food was delicious, the service and the atmosphere was appalling. A member of staff seated us in an area that we can put our prams. We got asked politely by the first waitress to move the prams in closer if we could so we did. But 3 other members of staff, grabbed our prams in an angry manner and moved them out of the way, even though we moved them to the place where we got asked to. They also, kept tutting, and muttering under their breaths. We got rushed to order our food. When we were eating our food, cutlery got taken from our table from a waitress. Very average, and obscenely expensive for the quality of food and drink you get. A ham and cheese toastie (on regular sandwich bread, not even cut in half) with a very standard side salad and tiny pot of coleslaw was £9. The ham was very low quality, fatty and gristly. Jacket potatoes were around the same price and fine but nothing special at all. Greasy spoon caf quality food at about triple the price. Chips were really good to be fair, should have just got some chips each and not bothered with the rest!
