"For an ordinary Manchester restaurant JS is getting expensive £22.50 for a lamb dish with potatoes and no veg. A grilled steak the same with chips. The restauarant is no great shakes and when compared to restaurants in Edgware Middlesex I find the JS very overpriced. In Edgware you can have a 3 course meal for this price. The food can't be faulted but people will look elsewhere if prices climb. The lamb was beautifully cooked and very flavoursome. I didn't like the saute potatoes. Very soggy and not crisp like they should have been. The desserts were not very imaginative or varied and so I didn't order one. Ice cream sundae came as a whirl of ice cream with a coloured sauce at an inflated price."

Popped in for the first time WAS famous for fried liver onions, latki, The plate was cold, so the gravy gelled on the plate. Should be served on a heated plate very expensive not revisiting.

My wife and I enjoy JS restaurant for special occasions as it kosher, extremely pleasant and the service is dignified and friendly. It is spotlessly clean and the well cooked food is delicious and plentiful.

The staff are welcoming and service is fast and friendly. Vegetables are always overcooked but meat is good. Portions are huge- come hungry. My only complaint was that they refused to accept my £20 reward cheque claiming they were leaving the scheme. Hardly honest dealing.

JS offers great Jewish home cooking coupled with a lively atmosphere which attracts families who come to celebrate birthdays and couples dining out to give one party a break from the cooking. The service is always with a genuine smile and at last the Chef does not overlook my steak.

Generally the last few times I have visited I have been disappointed. Having been through various 'owners ', the difference between them is noticeable but not detrimental, but this time I felt the quality, quantity and value had definately lessened. Really sad because we always have loved the place and holds memories of my late parents, but not sure we will keep doing the 50 mile round trip any longer. This time we brought visitors from Kent with us who were disappointed.
