"I can't find any adjective to qualify this restaurant. but if only one should be remembered: stunning! I have already eaten very well and I have already been very welcome in a restaurant in my life. but then both, and to this point: never! the card is refined, the products are of quality but above all the execution is perfect. the owner (olivier) advises us directly a wine in our budget and in our tastes. We've had a lot of fun. special mention to the turndos and its homemade bearnese sauce and when comes the end of the meal olivier invites us to take a drink. What a character! discussions to end, all as interesting as each other. we don’t see the time and midnight is already ringing. If you hesitate to come to the dyke, contact your doctor, you're probably mad! In short, an address not to be missed!"

a good meal with my wife in a family atmosphere. Although everything was excellent, I especially recommend the white lady for dessert.

On the occasion of my birthday, we went for the first time (recently arrived in Vendée to the La Digue restaurant. What a great idea from my wife. Everything was perfect from start to finish, succulent, beautiful presentation and plentiful. Simple and pleasant service. Very pretty setting by the river. Come on if we want to find a small downside, the bass of the speaker was poorly adjusted and too boom-boom in the first part of the evening (but am, in all modesty, demanding on the sound We will come back!!

"La Digue Restaurant is perfectly situated, slotted in between the Maine river of the Vendée (a Loire tributary famous for the wines Muscadet de Sevre et Maine) and the enormous medieval ramparts of the ancient city of Montaigu. In late September 2016 the Vendée and the Maine had been affected by three months of almost total drought, after extremely wet months of May and June, so for our visit the river was quite low and scarcely flowing over the low weir, but still quite healthy with fish dappling the surface and ducks swimming around foraging. Kayakers were launching their canoes. The Road outside is one way, with ample free parking along the verges. The restaurant was quite busy when we turned up for lunch just before 1300 hours on a Thursday without a reservation. Apart from the diners on the terrace there were groups of guests by the river enjoying the warm sunshine, gentle breeze and their drinks. Somewhat apprehensively we asked for a table, and were immediately welcomed by the Patron, Olivier. This is a Family business, and after kissing my wife on both cheeks he showed us to a nice table on the Terasse. We were presented with a large "chalk board" of specials, as well as a proper menu each of several pages. These included a page of Aperitifs and Digestifs as well as Sparkling Waters, but the wine list seemed to be according to availability and negotiation. We had an hour to drive home and wished to visit a vineyard after lunch as well as explore the ramparts and the modern city, so we shared half a litre of Pellegrino and half a litre of Chenin one of our favourite white grapes. It did turn out to be 14% but excellent, bottled by Pascal Cailleau of St Lambert du Lattay, south west of nearby Angers. Olivier's brother is the chef and his son Francois was our waiter, aided by his sister. Francois spoke much better English than we speak French, but all the other guests were French. The cuisine here is decidely French. My wife started with Oeuf Cocotte à la joue de Boeuf (Cow cheeks with egg), I chose Salade de Gésiers de Canard Maison (Salad with Ducks' gizzards). Both starters were excellent. We both chose the Filet de Julienne beurre blanc (filet of Ling with white butter and vegetables). We were warned to look out for bones and each extracted about 3 or 4 small ones without swallowing any. The fish is very white and without the excellent sauce would be relatively tasteless. The vegetables enhanced the dish. We both finished with Salade de Fruits. Presentation and service were excellent throughout and the total bill €62.50."
