"Very disappointed, it was recommended by several people, and we looked forward to going, on arrival we were seated in the bar only to be confronted by someone eating their dinner with a big dog on their lap, we ordered drinks and our food, on arrival the steaks, which we were advised were supplied by the farmer who owned the pub and were good, were in fact not, very thin and overcooked, we decided nor to complain but did not finish our meals, the chips were also overcooked, however we asked by one of the staff about our experience and advised her of our dissatisfaction, she apologised and removed on of the steaks from the bill. I do like original and historical places but this place is in a very poor state of repair, the toilets which are across the road are best described as agricultural, very poor, would not like to have to go ther on a wet winters evening, sorry, we will not return"

"Most times when I visit Rhayader I call in Ty's for breakfast of coffee and cake. I have also stayed in the past. Always good service and amazing cake selection. Some constructive criticism coming now. Crushed avocado with poached eggs... wonderfully poached eggs, perfection, but avocado just chopped up (including some dark bits that personally I would remove) not crushed and all, placed on top of one piece of toast with the other toast underneath.. that seems a bit odd. Divided between the toasts I feel would be better. Did not complain as it detracts from my breakfast experience and the meal was essentially good. Service: 5"

"Suberb, personal booking followed by warm, friendly welcome. Fabulous home-cooked food, wines and real ales. Star of the show was Carl, thank you, though whoever looks after the kitchen is a true pro! Don't hesitate to book and enjoy this quaint, family, dog friendly pub, with top class pub-grub at decent prices. What a find! Thanks to Carl, kitchen staff, Wynn and Tracey!!!!"

"the most beautiful vegetarian breakfast I've ever had. with a glamorgan that I never had, and I think they have ruined any other vegetarian sausage or ruined there. breakfast and a cup of teacake to just £10, but it was good. I sat in the window and enjoyed watching the coming and going to the city. the cakes looked amazing, and I hope to go back later to cake and coffee as soon as my breakfast is completed. the beans also come in a small pot I loved and the service was excellent. would recommend everyone in the opposite, the father also had a lot or personality."

"We have eaten at all the main places in rhayader and the crown is easily hands down the best. Amazing , friendly and welcoming staff who seem genuinely pleased to have you there and the food..... well the food is incredible. The best pub grub...we've ever had. We had the salmon and the leg of lamb, both cooked to perfection, very flavoursome and the portions are generous, just the right amount. . The mash was gorgeous and the vegetables, very fresh and varied. We really could not fault it at all, it was flawless. I always put sauce on every meal that I have but not at the crown ,its not needed, as it's so tasty "
