"Breakfast should have been included to make up for the poor standard of room. So paying for a Double room-Superior-Ensuite, I expected something like in the pictures! Well, we got a room with two single beds pushed together, we couldn't cuddle up due to the lump between us. The cups were stained, when picking up the kettle, there is disgusting muck inside the stand. Going to fill the kettle up the taps are dirty around the bottom, the plastic around the bottom of the shower glass is black.. soak it in the bath with bleach for 5 mins.. there is scum between the tiles, they don't take 5 mins to scrub with a brush. When going to the toilet it wobbled and I nearly fell off. According to the website, most of the facilities listed aren't included, the seating area for two people had 1 chair! Our room was next to the front door and we heard the door banging every time somebody went in or out of the building. Do not be fooled by the beautiful pictures shown on the site. I wouldn't recommend this place and won't stop again. Rooms: 2 Service: 5 Location: 2"

We dropped in for breakfast and later a cake and a cup of Welsh tea/coffee. The food was gorgeous and very reasonably priced. The egg yolks were still runny in my Wyns Breakfast and my husband loved the fried bread; he hasn't had fried bread in years. Cake, coffee and tea were delicious! Would thoroughly recommend. Popped in for a bit of lunch on bike trip with Mrs. I had Ham Egg and Chips Mrs has chicken and avocado salad. Both were absolutely excellent. I had two lovely fried eggs and a mountain of ham hidden under a substantial portion of chunky chips. Definitely recommended and will definitely be going again when out on bike. Most times when I visit Rhayader I call in Ty's for breakfast of coffee and cake. I have also stayed in the past. Always good service and amazing cake selection. Some constructive criticism coming now. Crushed avocado with poached eggs... wonderfully poached eggs, perfection, but avocado just chopped up (including some dark bits that personally I would remove) not crushed and all, placed on top of one piece of toast with the other toast underneath.. that seems a bit odd. Divided between the toasts I feel would be better. Did not complain as it detracts from my breakfast experience and the meal was essentially good. Service: 5

"Passing through town at 2pm, we wanted to buy food to take away and eat later. Thinking we would get something nice, and possibly homemade, we stopped at this cafe because it had a bakery counter. As soon as we entered, the woman at the counter said, in an unfriendly manner, and without any other greeting, “we’re only serving take away drinks and what’s on display in the cabinet”. There were no prices on the products. The woman told me the price of the Welsh Cakes, which I deemed to be rather high. None of the other products looked as though they’d been made with any flair, creativity or pride. I now wish I’d left without buying anything, because my mistake was to then ask for a small chicken and mushroom pie, for which the woman charged £5. That too was expensive for what the pie looked like. However, it was only an hour later that we realised the extent of the awfulness of our pie purchase: the pie was 8cm in diameter, with a thin pastry case and top. Whilst not having the appearance of a yummy homemade pie, from the outside there was nothing to indicate the true horror of what was under the industrially manufactured crust. Biting into the pie revealed a largely hollow interior. It might have been a better pie if the interior had been entirely devoid of any filling. Why? Well this ‘filling’ comprised of no more than two dessert spoons of pale mush. We didn’t detect anything resembling chicken in that mush, nor mushroom. The most pleasant components were flecks of ice, which were a distraction from the insipid gloop that the manufacturer might have called gravy. When handing the pie to my partner, it tilted slightly, upon which water slopped out of the pie we estimate the amount of water to be two or three dessert spoons. There’s no doubt that we’d inadvertently bought a pie that was at the extraordinarily cheap and nasty end of the spectrum of factory manufactured pies. However, this woeful and deplorable tearoom had gone one better, and made the UK’s most unappealing pie even worse. I considered writing this cautionary review three days ago, in case I was poisoned by the pie (and didn’t live to tell the tale)."
