"Just had to put pen to paper to say what a fantastic and delightful experience it was eating at this restaurant today. Having just moved to the area from Yorkshire we drove out today to explore the local area, visiting Castle Douglas. Seeing this restaurant...brought a smile to our faces as three years ago we honeymooned in Greece. We have tried eating in Greek restaurants in Yorkshire to recreate the Greek experience but everyone has been disappointing. Although busy today the front of house girls were very friendly and accommodating and managed to fit us in and made us feel welcome. We ordered the meze starter for two as well as two main courses and wow the food was incredible. The authentic taste of the food was enough to transport us back to Greece three years ago. We were blown away by the food, the front of house staff and obviously the kitchen staff and chefs who made eating at Nikos such an enjoyable experience. We had a lovely day out in a lovely town. Without any shadow of a doubt we will be back to sample more delights. Authentic Greek cuisine has really been captured here in Scotland."

we really enjoyed our lunch at niko’s and have visited several times for the nice eating. I have to mention that we have found the restaurant uncomfortable cold and had to wear our weights while eating. I noticed that other guests who...sam different than that, everything is great.

Had a family birthday to celebrate, but was wary about dining out due to covid. I contacted Sam at Nikos who promptly arranged a takeaway selection of mezze dishes for us. All the dishes were delicious, but the lamb souvlaki and bbq pork were outstanding....Great personal service and fantastic food. Highly recommended.

we ate here twice during a short break in the opposite. we had a dinner, with appetizers, and we chose 5 mezzes between us. the portions were a good size, and we would be the spanakopita, the lamb souvlaki and the. imam, an eggplant court. nothing nice, tasty eating well cooked. the restaurant was pretty busy, which is always a good sign. we went back to lunch and had no trouble again.

We were visiting friends in Castle Douglas and had our second visit to this lovely restaurant. Friendly and welcoming and the food is first class. All freshly cooked and delicious. We all enjoyed several dishes from the meze menu. My husband lost his ring that...day, we weren't sure where, but contacted the restaurant in case it was found. We are delighted that today they have found it. It has great sentimental value. Another reason to revisit next time we are in the area. What lovely people. Thank you.

On a weeks holiday we were looking for somewhere for lunch. Came across Nikos what a find! We received a warm welcome and the menu choices were extensive including all day meze and a specific lunch menu. My wife opted for the Italia pasta...and i had the lamb souvlaki. Both were delicious the lamb was tender and it came with authentic pitta and amazing home made chips. My wifes pasta was delicious a real depth of flavour in the sauce. All together 2 dishes and 2 drinks were a very reasonable £36. Together with friendly attentive service. We will definitely be back

we ate here on a Thursday evening in the March 24/03/22 with our three sons at the entrance to the restaurant we were greeted and on our table brought by a friendly young waitress the table was great and had a lot of space the decor was really nice., dolphin artwork and wood cretan style furniture, felt very authentic a young man named dominic explained the Mezz beautiful cherry and teller cherry too, they were all individually designed, felt like small dishes from a Cretan ceramic store, glazed plates etc. the service was excellent, both young male waiters in the night were so polite and well spoken we will definitely come back when we return here and recommend to family and friends well ma...

We had some meze takeaway during lockdown and were so disappointed for many reasons the food had not even started to be prepared when I arrived at the agreed time to collect. Portions were scanty and no better quality than we could have bought...in supermarket, i.e. spicy chicken wings, sardines, chorizo, tzatziki etc so we didn't complain but didn't go back. Last week we thought we would try a lunch there and again were so disappointed. My lamb souvlaki was like a dried up sausage on a stick, served with tasteless chips, small salad and tzatziki. My friends meals were no better. I have been to Greek restaurants elsewhere and loved the food but this is neither warming or welcoming and overpr...

We booked here for 5pm having read the fantastic reviews. When we entered the restaurant a young girl stood at the bar and looked at us all. She then came over slowly and pointed to the table and said you can sit there we sat...down and ordered our drinks then ordered some starters, we ordered tzatziki and pitta and literally got 2 small pieces of pitta bread, then our main arrived I wish the girl had said to us (we were being obviously and clearly oblivious to the meze but ordered our food and most ordered the chicken gyros and chips and it arrived on a small side plate, the childrens meal were bigger. I wish it was asked if we wanted to order extra as the waitress had explained to the coup...

"My wife found this when looking for a place for us to spend our wedding anniversary. It sounded good on paper. It was a long and tedious drive for us though and I wasn’t sure it was worth it. I was totally wrong! This place is superb and well worth any drive! The setting is great-it has its own beach and there is a small patio where you can sit and there is a heater there too if you need it. There’s a nice lawn in front of the hotel too where those with dogs took them for a walk. The rooms are all different and all well appointed with their own en suite. The costs of the rooms reflects the size of the room and not the facilities. If you are tall like me (6ft 2) I wouldn’t go for one of the rooms in the roof as the coomb ceiling is a pain. However the thing you go there for is the food and that is sublime! It is a set menu in the evening which reduces waste and helps control costs. You get 7 courses, all quite small , but at the end of the meal you are adequately fed but not full. We were there for 3 nights and had a different meal every night. All the dishes were superb but we had mushroom soup one night and it was the best soup I have ever tasted! In fact it was one of the best foods I have ever tasted! The breakfast is very good indeed and you can order whatever you like from the menu which is very comprehensive. I found that set me up for the whole day and I didn’t need a lunch. I must also mention the wine. The wine list is very comprehensive with some difficult to come by wines in it too like Chateau Musar. On 2 nights we went with the wine pairing list which I thought was very good value, especially the cheaper of the 2 lists we had every night. The hotel is a good centre for seeing things in the local area and , despite going in November we found things to occupy ourselves for the 3 days we were there. They have various themed weekends too which sound brilliant. But the hotel is so good it is worth going to anytime. We will certainly be back."
