Visited this week as a celebration meal with my wife. The food was very tasty, however I must agree with the other reviews in that the service was woeful and we found ourselves looking for staff, despite the restaurant appearing fairly well staffed. Service: 2 Location: 4

I visited St Petroc's three years ago and came away disappointed. Three years on and not much has changed. Unfortunately, drenching everything in butter does not completely mask the taste of this distinctly average food. Expect slow service and inflated prices. If you enjoy throwing money away, this is the place for you.

Absolutely amazing and wonderful experience today, Sunday 3rd September. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were made to feel very special. We had the lobster, lemon sole and the monkfish. All arrived at the same time, super fresh and hot. We all had a pudding, you can’t fault the sticky toffee pudding. Can’t wait to return. Lunch at St Petroc's Bistro, Padstow was lovely. No other way to describe it. The atmosphere is lively, verging on noisy, but still very pleasant. The dining room is very nice, plus there are tables outside at the front and the secret garden around the back. We sat inside and ordered from the lunch menu. My Moules Marinières and monkfish were to die for! My wife had a tuna steak, which was not quite as pink as expected, but still most enjoyable. The service was excellent. All the staff were very efficient and super friendly. We'll definitely be back for a repeat visit!

Padstow might be dubbed a Ric Stein Wonderland, but my recent experience at At Petrocs was underwhelming to say the least. The pricing was exorbitant for what was offered—£19 for three rather uninspiring scallops. Wait times stretched to over an hour for main courses, and during this lengthy period, the staff didn 't bother to update us or offer apologies. My partner eventually had a word with the manager, who did waive the service charge and offer complimentary drinks. However, it was too little, too late; we should have considered leaving well before that point. As for Ric Stein 's famed fish and chips, they also left much to be desired, given the cost. Visited in a Tuesday evening. Service was slow but friendly, had to wait quite a while for plates to be cleared and had to sadly grab servers attention for drinks. Asked for a wine recommendation and the house was what was provided and very little interaction overall. Food was okay, not sure it met value for money. Side salad very over peppered and the monkfish, although fresh and well cooked had very little else. Restaurant was overly warm and brightly lit. No music or feel of atmosphere. There was obviously in the past an attention to detail that this restaurant deserves but sadly along the way this has been lost, dirty side plate, no clearing of starter cutlery or decorative wine glasses...

A friend and I booked here as a treat for my birthday earlier in the year. We'd had 2 nights at fistral beach prior to staying at Rick's Cafe in Padstow. We were really looking forward to experiencing Rick's renowned menu. Our table was booked for 7.30pm. We ordered starters after 8pm and I know scallops are a special treat but £19.95 for 3 felt expensive but as we were at St Petrocs I thought it will be worth it. My friend order the fish soup for her main, which we eventually received well after 9pm after asking where they were. We didn't order desserts.
