The Baby Grand - Piatti

The pianist just added to the occasion. My first visit but would certainly go again.

Baby Grand is a gem of a place, and we were looked after on this visit by Jackson, absolutely first class, friendly and engaging, will definitely be back.

A hidden gem! Went for a pre-concert meal. Excellent value set menu, good portions and very tasty. Food arrived quickly and service was great. I could not fault this wonderful little restaurant.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the food arrived quickly, the restaurant and toilets were clean. The food was exellent, really delicious. The pre-theatre menu is courses for so a fantastic price, especially considering the quality and portion size of the food. I will be very happy to return to this restaurant. Highly recommend.

Very slow service, however, there were only two people on in a completely packed restaurant. Despite asking about GF options, none were provided and the team didn't really know the menu. Food was lovely and the new set up of the restaurant since I was last there was stunning. Only problem was the service. We only got our drinks when we were nearly finished our starters. After our dessert no-one came to remove our plates and ask us if we wanted coffee etc which we did. We waited for a bit then ended up forgetting about coffee and walking to front of restaurant where staff where sitting and paid for our meal. A bit disappointing end but it won't stop us going back.

The starter I had was delightful, the hummus was rich in its taste, enhanced by the avocado and the pitta bread was a wonderful addition to it. For the main, I had Grand Mac and Cheese and it was a delight. The texture and taste of it was wonderful and the jalapenos really elevated it for me. For the dessert I had the spiced plums and it was the perfect terminus for the courses, with it's sweet and spicy plums and cream with the biscuit-crunch leaving me very satisfied with what they have offered Overall, I enjoyed my time in Baby Grand, the staff are wonderful, the beers I've had are great and the food has been fantastic, served brilliantly with not too long of a wait. Service poor. Early evening booking so only option was 2 or 3 course pre-theatre menu. Food OK but uninspiring. I had hummus and pita bread then roast chicken with gravy and fries. Very small table so when the main course was brought over before the starter plates had been removed it was a ridiculous situation. We ordered another 175 glass of wine each with our main. Finished our mains, had to eventually ask for table to be cleared, which was greeted with a dour look and shrug and table not cleared. Had to go up to the bar to find out what had happened to the drinks ordered. No apology from same dour female who had taken the order (possibly the manager? , simply a curt 'what did you order '....
